The defense has been doing well for a change and hopefully that continues. Just need to actually score a goal some time this season. Come on Arsenal!
You are not really helping your argument. Pulling Rafael' hair - good thing. Kicking a Scum - great thing. Handball vs Ghana - brilliant. I'll give you the dive, but it did make for a Szczesney highlight reel.
Actually Suarez is almost as black as BarackObama. The usual mistake in these things is to overlook that the man comes from another culture where these things are part of life. He has to adjust to life in England, obviously, and comply with the norms of civilized society. But give him a chance. It is quite normal, for example, to discriminate against whites with comments like "white man's disease - no vert jump" on these boards. I've seen them and the mods do nothing. That is because it is just a societal norm and we don't care.
The Blind Pig is THE Official NY Arsenal pub! Great gooners, good service/beer selection, outstanding atmosphere. Prediction: 2-1 with us losing. Liverpool is not exactly great, but we are not ripping up the league either. I pray I'm totally wrong, but LFC had Man City beaten and ended with a draw.
OMG, Catfish with a 2-1 prediction, but with us on the losing end. This may be the most depressing post I've seen in a while.
Seriously? The handball vs. Ghana was when I knew this dude was a c*nt. I would be embarassed if an Arsenal player pulled some sh*t like that.
and even doing those things to players/teams i do not like makes him a total doucher. pulling hair?? that is what i would expect from a 3rd grade girl with a disorder. a loser who i wouldn't want anywhere near my team.
haha. I just re-read it a few times and I'm still struggling to understand what the hell he's talking about. I think he's trying to say that Uruguayans aren't civilized or refined enough to understand that kicking people while they are down, pulling hair and shouting racial epithets is wrong and that they all just need time to acclimate to being in an enlightened country with different social norms - a statement that itself is impressively racist and ignorant. At least he keeps the board interesting. If I read Dempsey's name once more in the transfer thread I'm going to lose it.
At least, most Dempsey posts are actually logical and not entirely built on stupidity. I don't always do this but that post entirely deserves this.
1-0 to the Arsenal. Verm on a corner. Arsenal D gets saved by the post and awful finishing from Suarez.
The first line was the best part. That drivel was the post equivalent of a shock video. I could hear the 2 Girls 1 Cup song playing in my head while reading the post.
Yes, seriously. It was a brilliant play. The only play he could have made. Willing to sacrifice himself for his team. I suppose you think Vermaelen, Koscielney, Gibbs, Song, etc. are/were c*nts when they take one for the team when a player is breaking away and they reach out and blatantly grab them. Same thing. Blatantly fouling to prevent a goal/breakaway.
I just don't get this. What did he do that was so wrong? He was on the goal line (and he's a striker, so it's not like he's that familiar with being there), the ball is ping ponging around inside the 6 yard box, he's already made one reaction save on the goal line, and the ball comes back between him and another player who's losing his footing. You think a reaction like that is unreasonable in one of the biggest games of his life? Or, supposing you think this was NOT a reflex action (which I clearly do) that this was deliberate and so cynical as to be called a cvnt? Even knowing that he'd get a red, miss a game, give up a PK and leave his team down a man? So every defender or keeper who brings down a man on his way to goal, who makes the professional foul is a cvnt? Or, was it Suarez's reaction upon seeing Gyan miss the PK? Given his card and ejection, he's not allowed to be happy that the guy missed? Really? I mean, Szczesny is equally a cvnt, isn't he? He clearly exulted in the Euros when he brought down Salpingidis for Greece and the PK was missed? Like I said, I just don't get the hate... At least based on this incident.
I think you make a good point, but I'll tell you why I disagree. There are times when a foul may be justified to prevent a goal-scoring situation, but there's a line and he crossed it. It all depends on your competitive philosophy really. You sound like a "win at all costs" type of guy. If you want our defenders constantly cutting down players on 1v1s or diving across the goal with their hands out like f*cking volleyball players to prevent a goal, then that's your outlook. I support Arsenal because I like to think we don't resort to that kind of stuff. Some people still believe in sportsmanship.
To be fair, I think I'm more comfortable calling him a c*unt based off his accumulation of c*nt-like acts since that handball incident. This isn't a witch hunt. He's basically a very skilled Joey Barton.
I understand what you are saying but I'm a win at all costs kind of guy. I would expect Arsenal fans to be at least close to this stage. Sportsmanship really is useless and irrelevant. Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing. Mind you, you must consider the situation. It was the World Cup QF. It was for the life of his country in that tournament. With what he did, he gave his team a chance to survive and it wasn't assured either. He stopped a sure goal (if he tried to use his head) and gave his team an unlikely chance to stay alive (they still had the penalty shootout to win). This falls back on Gyan for missing the penalty. However, Suarez would never take nearly as much flack if Gyan handled his business and made the penalty (or if Ghana went on to win the shootout). Considering Ghana beat the United States in the round of 16. It was absolutely brilliant seeing not only Ghana lose but in that fashion. I really like Suarez now and nothing he could do could make me dislike him (not even the Evra situation but that's because it was Evra).
