Video clips from The Express studio shows on both beIN SPORT HD (USA) and beIN SPORT en Español from Sunday August 19:

Real Madrid vs Valencia half-time "fire drill", with Ines Sainz in the studio first (while Phil Schoen did highlights off camera), then Terri Leigh in the studio with live shot of Duncan McMath from the Comp Nou (while Jose Hernandez did highlights off camera):

    --

Barcelona vs Real Sociedad pre-game "fire drill". Terri's segment aired first on the English-language channel before Ines' segment aired on the Spanish channel.

Why Dish does not have the spanish BeIN? intead we get sap audio and the commentators are from Spain, not Jose Hernandez, also we dont get Ines Sainz and Carmen Boquin.

Personally, I think Bein is doing a good job so far. Yes, they aren't perfect yet, but I think after some time, they'll get it together. As far as production and set is concern, definitely superior in contrast to ESPN Deportes, Fox Soccer or Gol TV and the promos? Finally someone got it right for us football supporters. The Spanish commentators are definitely great but the English talent could be better, but at least got it appreciate to hear some familiar voices narrating the games. Anyway, I'm excited for this new channel and I hope they'll be available in all carriers, so we can all enjoy the game. Definitely excited to see what they have to offer.

They need to get same analysts in the studio to go with the eye candy. If Fios adds both english and spanish versions and there arent any analysts ill be watching the spanish version. I dont speak spanish but those two smoke terri leigh away.

It has to be a Dish decision because they are receiving the HD feed but converting the broadcast to SD.

That's true. The two girls in the Spanish version definitely handle themselves pretty well and knew pretty much what they were talking about. That blonde chick (sorry if I don't know her name) clearly didn't know what she was talking about and she relied more on her tablet than the two spanish ladies that barely needed. But, is the beginning and if she's taking her position serious, she'll get better.

Even though I'm lucky to have this channel available (IF ANYONE FROM DIRECTV IS READING THIS... THANK YOU! THERE'S A REASON WHY I'VE BEEN WITH YOU GUYS FOR 13 YEARS & YOU NEVER DISAPPOINT) I hope this channel is available ASAP to all of those supporters that can't get satellite at this moment for various reasons. Plus, as these leagues are growing in America, they need as much exposure as possible and only available to 8 million people is not a good look. I hope they work hard and get in as many homes as possible in order for these leagues to grow.

Ines Sáinz is a guest host for opening weekend only. She is a BIG name in Hispanic media on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border. Her primary gig is with TV Azteca of Mexico. She is known for her provocative outfits at Super Bowl media day, as well has her numerous bikini spreads in Spanish-language magazines (the last one she did was in 2010, less than a year after giving birth to twins.) She is a 34-year-old mother of 4 kids (!) who gave birth to a daughter via C-section only 5 weeks ago!!! She is married to a TV producer.

Carmen Boquin is the regular host of beIN SPORT en Español. She is originally from Honduras, where she worked at TeleviCentro (TVC) in Tegucigalpa before landing in Miami.

Until the studio space issue is solved (moving the English talent to Toronto is one possibility once beIN SPORT Canada is up and running), the viewers and the production staff (not to mention the hosts) will have to suffer through the half-time fire drills. Neither ESPN nor FOX had to resort to such fire drills because either 1) they have enough studio space to handle multiple networks, or 2) they don't bother with studio segments during half time if a particular event does not have access to a studio due to a capacity issue.

Another way to temporarily alleviate the studio space issue is to set up a shot away from the studio, either in the control room or in the newsroom so that there would be time for the host and a pundit to break down highlights instead of having to use the play-by-play man to do half-time highlights as well.

For the record, I personally recommended Terri Leigh to the executive producer. Her application literally arrived at the executive producer's email box as I walked out of Imagina U.S. after my visit on June 25. The EP's last words to me before I left the building that afternoon: "I am still looking for a young female host who knows international soccer."

Both the executive producer and the coordinating producer/director of talent of beIN SPORT USA liked Terri right away because she knows what she is talking about, having anchored FOX Soccer Report for 2 years (2008-2010), quite often on the same show with her husband Jeremy St. Louis, who anchored for 8 years (2002-2010).

The reason why Terri relied on her iPad whereas Ines Sáinz and Carmen Boquin didn't have to is because the Ines and Carmen had time to load their scripts into the teleprompter but Terri did NOT. Terri's studio segments often had to be shot within a minute or two after Ines or Carmen did theirs.

If you actually stop and think about the beIN SPORT LLC business plan in the U.S. and Canada, the choice of Terri actually makes the most sense among all the candidates that were considered.

    1. Canadian citizenship, which is very important now that beIN SPORT Canada is on the horizon, with a 30% Canadian content requirement.

    2. Young female anchor with just enough experience anchoring soccer news (2 years) to have name recognition and command of subject matter to have credibility among viewers who are familiar with her from her stint with FOX Soccer Report in Winnipeg.

    3. Bonus points for being photogenic, as she modeled several years ago.

Well that explains a lot. Plus, if the other two had the right equipment to deliver a good performance and the other host didn't have that privilege to prepare, she's prompt to make a mistake or two because of no time to rehearse. Thanks for the info and you guys are doing a good job. Keep it up and keep improving!
