FCD and USA wins? And if you add the scores, you end up with the Cowboys win over the Raiders.

    Not a bad week!

I think the whitecaps were reliving the hockey riots in that game. I wish somebody would've given Davidson studs to nuts.

Looks like little David's return has given Dallas the glue to push for playoffs. 3-4 wins will make things very interesting.

Congrats on the win tonight, and on Ferreira getting through the game without injury. I was holding my breath for him every time he got hacked down tonight, it had to be hard for him to keep playing without thinking about the last time he played in Vancouver.

It was amazing to me how much Jason de Vos whined about how Ferreira allegedly dived when Y.P. Lee clipped his ankle, while at the same time not managing to mention once about how the last time Ferreira came to Vancouver, he spent 14 months out injured. And given the level of thuggery Vancouver employed tonight, you almost think that they wanted him out for another 14 months.

    Jackasses.

3 of the 5 playoff teams in front of us are even with 37 points, only 8 points ahead of us. If one of them slips up this last part of the season and we can keep winning like this, things could get interesting...

Good game by FCD tonight in a hostile BC Place. Castillo had an amazing performance, he was the man of the match for me along with Ferreria. I hope that FCD can keep him around for a long time, he has awesome potential. Luna was a huge disappoint, but i won't let one game convince me to write him off forever. Kudos to Tops for the goal, i was really happy for him...even if Ferreria gift wrapped it for him. And for once i have no complaints that i can direct towards DH, lol!

Tonight was an amazing night of soccer. USA beats Mexico in Azteca for the first time ever, and in large part due to Brek. And to top it off FCD gets another win. I'm on cloud nine about right now

Great effort by Castillo on the 1st. Dare I say Messi-esque run by DF10 to set up the 2nd. Good crowd at Londoner Addison tonight and nice to annoy the Rangers fans who were asking to change the TV...sorry, boys, we follow winner in Big D! :)

It really sux the Orlando City Butchers butchered DF10 out of the first 18-20 games of the year. FCD is a top 5-7 team or even better with him in the lineup. He simply makes the team go.

Really glad to see that goal out of Top. Nice to see some of that homegrown talent shine for once.

There's still an asterisk next to this win, as there have been for all our recent wins (the asterisk for Portland and Colorado is that they're Portland and Colorado, and the asterisk for Vancouver is that they played their B team). Still, it is clear that FCD's offense is genuinely clicking. Ferreira, Castillo (he's the shocker to me), and the young strikers are getting things done. Jacobson is keeping things under control in front of the defense, and those of you who like thugs and hacks should be pleased with his penchant for timely "professional" fouls.

Can we keep it up on the road against the best of the West?

Did we not have our "B" team out there as well though? We were missing Blas, Shea, de Guzman, Ugo, Rodriguez and Jackson. Some pretty important players in that mix i'd think. Were most likely not gonna make the playoffs, i'm realistic in that respect. But still it doesn't hurt to hope. Being a debbie downer in the midst of some good wins isn't much fun...

Castillo had his best game in an FCD kit last night. The first half especially, he was everywhere, causing problems for the Caps and actually linking with players. You can normally see his teammates struggle to predict when/where/if he's going to release the ball and get themselves into position/ready every time he has the nut, tonight there were only a few of those situations.

DF10 was an F'ing monster. That's the guy we missed this season. As the match progressed it looked like he was growing a chip on his shoulder, and he used it mightily. He was fantastic. I hope the DisCo doesn't get after him for the dust up at the end (looked like a closed fist from the replay).

Luna struggled. As mentioned though, still think it's early to write him off, but his first touch was poor and he was getting physically dominated. It was good to see Top come in and be productive, great finish. You can say it was on a plate, but you still gotta hammer that home with the Cannon laying out 4 yards in front of you and a defender in your back pocket.

Jacobsen was great, had another match we know he's capable of, but have rarely seen this season. Lately I've been wondering if JdG's addition is mentally taking AJ out of matches. JdG covers much more ground and is much more involved in possession than DH which kind of changes AJ's role. That's gonna be tough to figure out where to be during the flow of the game. DH was surprisingly good tonight, looked more like last year's DH. Something to prove?

Early on we were launching 30+ yard balls after two passes and looked like it was going to be a long night. When we settled down and worked to posses the ball we were much better. I'd be ok if I didn't see another 30 yard ball in the air all season, it just seems like there are only two players on the roster that can consistently receive that pass (under pressure) without turning it over.

Good writeup, Boner. I think you're right about the spacing of the central MF last night being very effective and allowing the offense to get going. I'm hoping that SH is spending some time (or maybe not if JdG likely won't be here) with AJ and JdG to get comfortable together. It seems like they may be able to play more of a balanced MF, sharing offensive and defensive duties as opposed to the defined DM and linking CM that Hernandez and AJ play. The balanced method makes us more dangerous, but is also more difficult to enact as it requires tight coordination between both players (e.g. time to gel).

PS: Dang...Castillo looked really, really good last night.
PSS: Luna will bounce back. It's one thing to body up on lil' Drew or Marvell...quite another to try and muscle the sasquatch hacker Bonjour or Bonsour or whatever his name is.

Castillo has finally looked productive in the last two games, as opposed to very frustrating.

Luna, well...this is the same Luna we see every time we trot him out in the stating 11. Yet there are still some who say he never gets his fair shot. I thought Top did great and hope he moves above Luna in the pecking order. Like it or not, strikers are irrelevant unless they find a way to put one in the back of the net from time to time. Luna has one goal this year thanks to him laying on the ground and it rolling off his body. Something tells me he wouldn't have finished what Top did last night.

I can't believe I am going to say this, but I agree with Schellas...in his post game he said Vancouver is too talented to play so rugged, and I was thinking the same thing all game. They have plenty of skill, but they tried to follow the game plan of fouling up FCD to throw them off their style, and clearly it messed with their own more.
Is it possible for Ferriera to get MVP votes? Cause it's clear he is the best player on the team, and there isn't even a close second. He makes everything work, from being an outlet for defenders, to letting all the other midfielders be their one dimensional selves, to creating every stinkin chance. He is awesome.
Luna simply did what Luna has been doing after decent performances, which is completely disappear. He doesn't seem to have the ability to follow up good with good, it's not even a consistency issue, it seems to be effort.

I was saying to this to a couple of other FCD fans the other night as we were watching the FCD-Colorado game on TV:

If the soccer media doesn't have their heads up their asses, David Ferreira should be league MVP in a runaway. He has made such an incredible difference in this team since his return, it's not even funny, and I can't think of a single player in this league who makes such a difference.

One thing I liked about Morrow was he gave players about 5 games in a row before he judged them. Luna needs three more and then we'll all see if he's the Fish starter kit he was last week or the wallflower who didn't like the crap turf and french assassin last night. With a young I generally see the upside like last week and think they can do that all the time but some players are just a once in a blue moon type.

Who is the Jackass? "Allegedly?" "Clipped?"

    I submit to you:

Davidson pulls Ferreira up out of his sell job and suddenly he's no longer hurt? no "Stinger" on the ankle.

    give me strength.

FCD completely outplayed the Caps last night and the Caps were fully deserving of losing the three points at home to FCD, but I'd humbly suggest that Dallas was much more "Theatric" and "Cheating" last night with a dodgy underexperienced MLS official and crew that bought into it than the Caps were employing "Thuggery"

It's no excuse for the performance and poor play of the Caps, but Ferreira is a little diving cheat and I hope he has some suspension or fine to pay for his actions that ended up in a handbags display of epic proportions and got YP Lee booked for a ghost foul.

Given what happened last time he was on that piece you guys call a pitch (and subsequently what has happened to our team without him) I'd be fine with him "cheating" every time he got the ball last night.

24 called fouls (4 legitimate fouls against DF alone in the first half) and 6 yellows and you question the game plan on display, wow.

What game plan? We have a skilled team here as do you... Do you honestly think at this level that our Manager would say to the Boys go out there and kick and hack these guys all night? In our Stadium, in front of our fans?

You guys were missing your best, as were we. Our manager named some guys that left us scratching our heads, some of our guys were out of their depth and we played horribly and lost the match. I'd hazard a guess that more than a few of those boys were not match fit - specifically Harris, Watson, Thorrington & perhaps Kenny Miller isn't "there" yet.

No sour grapes from me on that, also as a supporter there's nothing I can do to defend that turf, except that it's not grass yet we have been able to sign some pretty decent players or players of good reputation to play on it.

for political reasons we didn't get our SSS with Grass pitch built.

My post wasn't meant to discuss the game overall, it was to answer one or two specific posts above re the Ferreira Dive/YP Lee ghost foul/Davidson FCD Handbags incident.

Don't talk to me about what was deemed a bookable offense and not last night, that official was clearly out of his depth.

Again, not why the Caps lost- your mob thoroughly outplayed the Caps and were fully deserving of the 3 points.

A league leading 351 fouls committed in 25 matches. Is the manager asking for a hack fest every night? Probably not. Is it part of Vancouver's "style"? Numbers would indicate, and the "eyeball" test certainly passed last night.

Honestly calling DF "a little diving cheat" probably rubbed me the wrong way, so congratulations on making me take the bait. Considering that in 9 matches (707 mins.) played, he's suffered 28 fouls, the last time he played there he was out 14 months, and Vancouver's reputation on paper I'm able to overlook ONE dive.

I do agree that the refs were incompetent. That YPLee kid should've been on a yellow way earlier for a nasty tackle down in the corner. And that Bonspare hacktastic oaf should've been off with two yellows way earlier..if it were basketball, he would've fouled out. Overall, I'd say Vancouver is one of the teams that seems to be trying to make the game ugly (maybe following Colorado's MLS Cup winning blueprint?) and it's unfortunate because there does seem to be some talent there.
