I've been reading your commentaries for at least a year. Many Colombianos who lived thru Rueda have told you that he knows talents and he should have been given the Colombian NT for the next cycle given the horrible odds he was given.

But your EGOs can't help it. Yuk, another Colombiano! You guys have a DT that is MUCH better than the past 3 DT, hands down. The guy keeps on winning, your ranking CONTINUES to get better and it's still the same uneducated BS .

NOT ONE OF YOUR POSTERS has EVER even said ''hmm, alright I'll give this guy a chance given his results". You guys don't deserve him.

Damn... This has been the best game of Rueda's Ecua team... Fantastic game by everyone like you guys said even Saritama haha... I'm an Ayovi hater and yes he did well. Glad to be wrong but I hope he preforms the same when it really counts.

Only thing is that Montero was pissing me off. Dude needs to learn how to shoot at the correct times and pass at the correct times... I wish Valencia could teach him something or two about been a great winger. Montero is really good and his speed is great but his decition making is soooo bad I want to punch my screen everytime he over does plays.

Mina played great with Ayovi... actually I think he did better than Benitez... I wish I could see Mina and Caicedo together in a friendly.

I have given Rueda credit when it's due, I have always said that he's good at closing games, of all the main victories we've had under him I always felt we were closer to score another goal than being scored on, but we cant get carried away over a friendly win, you saw that game against Colombia it was sloppy and badly played, I guess most of us had been used to seeing an Ecuadorian team with an offensive attitude and good ball handling, must of us feel that with Rueda we've lost that.

The guys who I'm most impressed with though is Paredes. He went up against Sanchez many times and he was just a wall. Played great and I think he has a future in a good European team. Very impressed with him.

Supuestamente emisarios del Chievo de Verona asistieron al Partido especificamente para ver a Paredez, ciertas fuentes declaran que ya lo vienen siguiendo hace rato.

You guys can have him...I take it you know a lot about Ecuadorean futbol, our players and what not. I'm also assuming you've seen most of our games and followed his call ups close from the start. You make it seem as if Rueda has been a Godsend. What a lot of the people on this forum complain about are his call ups and the style of play he endorses. I'll be the first to tell you that Ecuador has played mediocre in a lot of their games, over 1/3 of their games maybe. During his tenure he's also passed over players that deserved to be on the list and called up players not worthy of putting on the NT uniform, guys like Saritama, Minda, Guagua, Bolanos, Araujo and excluded players who have been worthy of a call up- Caicedo, Guerron (when he was in Brazil), and Gaibor.

As for the rise in rankings, I don't put to much stock into that...look at our opponents over the last year, we've played Costa Rica, Jamaica, Venezuela, Peru, Honduras, and the U.S, but I take it you consider them world powers. All of the games have been played in Quito with the exception of one game against Costa Rica (a 2-0 win) and another against the U.S (a 1-0 win). The only opponent worth bragging about that we have beaten has been Colombia (in Quito), a game where we played mediocre. What has happened when we have played a quality opponent away from Quito, (Paraguay and Argentina???) Look at the Ecuador-Arg. game man and see if you have straight face to tell me Rueda is a good coach. Know you're sh*t before you enlighten us with your opinions pal.

If he goes to Italy his defensive skills will improve drastically! He will be a great RB. Now we just need to give Oyola a chance. Our defense is looking solid!

JC Paredes has come a looooong way. I think sometimes we fail to recognize it as much but he has definitely been a stand out player in each game he's played in the Qualifiers. He just gets better and better. I was totally against him being our Right back at one point but MAN he's got that spot on lock. NO ONE beats Paredes down the right wing. NO ONE. I've not seen a single player do it and the real test was today against a team that plays fast and collectively can leave you dismantled in defense and find/create wide gaps. But Paredes is FAST AS F*CK! I honestly would like to see him and Valencia in a race, they're like honestly just as fast it's crazy! I can only imagine how fast the left side could be if we get Roosevelt Oyola to take over Walter Ayovi's position when Walter's times up, and the amount of damage he could cause with Montero, Suarez, Rojas, or whoever the left winger is. The amount of speed we could have between Oyola-Montero and Paredes-Valencia is insane.

It's not so much that he's "another Colombiano". I don't think anyone here really cares where he's from. I judged him on his previous NT that he was in charge of- Honduras. And the only reason that NT was in the World Cup was due to the result of another game that allowed them to enter it. And when i saw that team perform in the World Cup I thought they were mediocre, lost, and like I say "jugaba a nada". That's the reason most ecua's did not want him to take charge of Ecuador.

You want more reasons why we don't like Rueda? Here's one reason I don't- Our NT has the potential to be THE BEST NT Ecuador has ever seen if we actually had every piece to the puzzle, but your boy Rueda deprives us from extremely important players just because they're not his "compadres" like Felipe Caicedo who has done exceptionally well in Lokomotiv (Russia) and Joffre Guerron who had a really great run in the Brasileirao with Atletico Paranaense for close to 2 years. And on top of that he continues to call up Luis Fernando Saritama, a player who does not deserve to be on the NT and STARTS him in just about every game and even though it's evident that he's the weakest link in every game, Rueda continues to believe his boyfriend Saritama is the best player in the world. His other boyfriend is Oswaldo Minda (Chivas USA) who doesn't even start games anymore THANK GOD or else he'd be on the list too. But there's another ecua in that team who I believe can be a key player for the NT and who actually plays 90 minutes every game lately and is totally ignored- Miller Bolanos. Here's a list of players who Rueda never considers for these friendly matches and are deserving of it (the first two I already named): Roosevelt Oyola, Fernando Gaibor (when he was starting), Ener Valencia, Miller Bolanos, Carlos Feraud, Jose Madrid, Pedro Velasco, Carlos Gruezo, Fidel Martinez, and the list can go on for days.

Til this game against Chile -which i only credit the players for- i have not seen a creative team that's offensive, aggressive, and has an initiative to attack and win. It's a slow, dull, boring, predictable, and dead type of futbol that i've seen displayed on the field since Rueda has been the DT. The only thing that has changed is that we have a secure defensive line and can capitalize our opportunities that we create (which are few)- examples of that are the games @ home vs. Peru and Colombia. If Rueda can get the team to play like they did today against Chile, then you'll start hearing praises and thanks. Until then, i'll continue saying screw Rueda! He lies and makes up excuses too which is another reason no one likes him.

And finally, you can't compare Rueda to Sixto Vizuete. Vizuete didn't have the resources that Rueda has access to (a younger defense and a more experienced and larger selection of strikers), yet he was able to leave Buenos Aires with 1 pt. in the bag which could have possibly been 3. But with your boy Reinaldo, we left with 3 goals up the ass, embarrassed, ridiculed, however you wanna call it. And he started his favorites "Saritama, Guagua, etc.".

you should take into consideration that most of your players haven't played official games with their club teams yet while the majority of ours have been active because they play in the Ecua league and in the Mexican league. I think that can make a difference. The season hasn't started for lots of your players until next week or two weeks from now

Possibly...but I would think a few preseason matches would be enough to get a player fit though. To be honest I think it has a lot more to do with the quality of players available. Labrin was making his debut in defence under Borghi and he got destroyed. The midfield is particularly weak without Matias, Valdivia, Jean, Isla or Vidal to tie the defence and attack together.

Ecuador just exposed us easily and broke us apart with very little effort... I don't blame fitness, I think the players you guys had out there were much better than the ones we had available.

Its a friendly guys. When Ecuador starts playing like that in an official game and consistently than you can start jumping up and down and el morocho around. Until than whatever. Ecuador has lost to Haiti and the NT of catalunya before and twice i think. And yes La yoya sucks. or do you want to compare la yoya to that PUERTO RICAN player that scored against the World and Euro Champs Spain yesterday? didn't think so.....

I agree that we shouldn't get too excited...I'll start believing when this team can go to Montevideo or Buenos Aires and play with serious cojones. Nice win tho, if nothing else it shows we're making progress.

always showing his love and admiration for Yoya, Guerron, Montero, who's next the next victim? and Narciso Mina is a crack right? lol

Friendly match or official match, Jaime Ayovi hasn't disappointed. I don't know what people want to see from him. Maybe some magic tricks or something?

AF is such a buzzkill ,jeez let us enjoy the win bro, this is the first time that we see them play collectively and showing some skill.i hope they bring this same attitude for the next qualifying matches excellent game from castillo the man was all over the place stopping, stealing etc,la hormiga also,in the second half when the chilenos se venian con todo, kept up with suazo who tried to regatearlo close to the box and took the ball from him to stop the attack.honestly the only person who i didnt notice was saritama.i saw the whole game from the side where they sell the beer under cover from the rain,ha ha never used my seats and saw the 2 goles from that side, up close. what better combo than beer/bathrooms right there.:D saw alot of pissed off Chileans and their barra was trying to outshout the Ecuas.next time i'l get the cheaper seats and just hang out there.;)

Yup, All three are rejects from better leagues, but who are we kidding? Its not about opening doors anymore, its about getting paid. narciso mina is 29 years old which used to be the maturing age for ecuadorian footballers. Is he Toluca bound? lol... I thought everyone was pissed of at Rueda's call up? We'll see the next two qualifiers if Ecuador can continue what was saw yesterday. Only than, people will be happy. Good game

There is no hiding the fact that after the previous Colombian DT (Gomez, Suarez) and all the other 'NSR" stuff that has gone on in the past # of years, that most Ecuadorians weren't frustrated to not move on beyond Colombian coaches. That's what I meant.
We can agree that Rueada's loyalty to specific players makes everybody go nuts. However, you can't compare Honduras to Ecuador. Ecuador is a proven NT, with a much more professional league and with many more 'internationals' on their roster. Prior to Ecuador's 1st visit to the WC I recall Gomez's biggest challenge was changing the inner being of not only the team but of the nation, the press, etc., that yes, Ecuador could beat anyone on any given day. Honduras at that point was what 25+ years from a WC? With only a couple of players that truly have enough experience to play at WC level? And mind you, I agree they got in at the last breath thanks to other results, but THIS is what breeds confidence, trust and luck. It's also a fact that they began their campaign fairly strong. So that also has to have some merit. You have to be in to to win it as the slogan goes.
Luck is very much a part of the game. I remember that freakin' 1-1 in Buenos Aires where Ecuador schooled Argentina and then they get a lucky goal at the 90+ min? That's what 'great/lucky' teams some how pull out of their arsss. Look at your win vs Colombia. Sloppy match on both sides. Sloppy defending but off a throw and puff, game changer/over. Only thing that counts is that you're now in a WC berth spot and we're not.
Regarding his comparison to Sixto, I also have to add that Rueda is a guy who WAS and IS hated from day 1 (no need to look further than these forums). At least Sixto had some local glory behind him, he was after all the best of 2 evils. Rueda has stuck to his guns, good or bad and as I was looking at your WCQ from previous, you guys are in a better position. So what's the problem? You'd rather have our problem? One of the top scorers in THE WORLD, yet, very little result? Did we look so amazing when we played you? Or would you rather play a scrimmage with the 3rd string Atletico Madrid team to a 0-0 tie on a FIFA DATE? Maybe, you'd rather be Brazil and lose Gold to Mex, be the next WC host and know that millions of your countrymen just don't believe you will win as HOST? Or maybe Borghi's clan who seem to enjoy a TMZ-like stardom but are so erratic. You just don't know which Chile will show up nowadays? Paraguay, Bolivia, and Vzla also have huge issues with their DT. Sabella is just now starting to figure it out (this just means that Messi finally woke up). And el Mago? All fumes by the looks of it. Conclusion. The grass isn't that much greener folks.

Off track question: Most of us here never likely saw a guy like Alberto Spencer play. So my real life references are 80s and beyond. I've seen some great Ecua players not reach their full capacity (thinking Salas, maybe even El Tin who was such a great finisher and on an on). Aguinaga, of course a legend. But I don't think I know of a BETTER more CONSISTENT TEAM player at the highest level than Valencia in ALL of South America. I find him extraordinary-- especially when you think of the henchman that almost ended his career not so long ago. The only guy for us, who I think has close to his type of attributes is James Rodriguez.
