In a recent article by Fox 5 Las Vegas, where they were discussing the recent Real Madrid/Santos Laguna match and it's possible influence on whether or not Las Vegas may be in the running for an MLS club, the reporter, Doug Johnson, states the following (wait for it, wait for it):

"Recently it was announced the city would be getting an indoor soccer team, the Las Vegas Legends, playing at the Orleans Arena in the Professional Arena Soccer League.
The success of the Legends at the Orleans might dictate if a Major League Soccer team could make it here in Las Vegas."

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! :ROFLMAO: Oh, Doug. A little knowledge is truly more dangerous than no knowledge at all.

I'd laugh if they said that about a MISL team, but a PASL team... really?!!
There's no way a MLS team could make a go of it there - there's not near enough permanent residents for that to happen. A PASL team is different though, because they might draw an "average" PASL crowd from the people at the casinos/tourists who never seen a semi-pro indoor team before.

Remember when Soccer-Man said some friendly between two European teams a couple of years ago that had some small promotional contribution from the Blast was proof positive that Baltimore was the greatest American soccer city or something? Whatever he was blathering on about, he was tying Euro soccer's popularity to the MISL somehow.

Do you know how many Latinos reside in Vegas and would support an MLS franchise?

I'd be shocked if Vegas is not awarded a team in the next 3 years
An MLS team in the desert would easily outdraw KC, or whoever is the bottom feeder in attendance
They'd definitely draw more than Columbus

Why do you think there have been so many friendly matches played at Sam Boyd Stadium the past few years... mainly 2 Spanish Clubs, with over 30,000 in attendance?

Kenn- can you pull some numbers? I know Sunday night was packed

KC actually has fifth highest attendance this season, genius. And by the way, I will give you tip, try this new thing called Google, I hear it is going to be big someday.

And your delusional claims about Las Vegas' MLS chances don't even need to be rebutted. The game you referenced didn't draw over 30,000 it drew just less than that. Be precise, we like facts around here.

Blues goof- Vegas would easily be in the top 10 in attendance.
29,105 - not close enough for ya?
BTW- How's that MLS team in Tampa working out?
Yes, I know Palm Harbor is NOT Tampa... but an hour and 10 isn't too far

KC has top 5 attendance in MLS. They have sold out almost every match this year. Very tough ticket to get here in KC.

Las Vegas isn't even discussed as a potential market for the next 3-5 years by Garber himself. It's a 2nd New York franchise, Orlando City SC, and San Antonio Scorpions. He has publicy endorsed all 3 of those ownership groups.

    Thanks Spinman
KC apparently has done very well since getting the new stadium

Vegas isn't discussed because there is no ownership group at this time

IMO- I think a team would do very well

I agree with you. There isn't an ownership group in place for Vegas, which makes it not viable at this time. If there was it could be a whole different story and could be a good market for MLS.

Are you guys really serious about Vegas hosting a MLS team? Has the summer heat gotten to you? Just kidding...

The only "pro" sports team they have is a minor league baseball team (The 51's) at the moment and maybe a indoor football team (though I can't get much info. on them, so I assume they are one and done.)

The highest pro team they ever had there was the MISL and that didn't last.

They had several semi-pro basketball teams in the ABA that had very short lifespans.

None of these teams are lasting there. Let alone a MLS team that expects 5 digit attendance figures.

Bit touchy aren't we? Ok, I did call you delusional, so maybe you have reason. But I am hardly a 'goof' for challenging your declaration of fact that Vegas was drawing over 30,000 to these friendlies. I think that words mean things. When you mean to say 'almost 30,000' then don't say 'over 30,000'. Splitting hairs I know, but people butcher that freaking language too much already. When you are stating facts, be accurate.

The lack of MLS in Tampa is rather irrelevant to this discussion at first glance. Although MLS leaving Tampa and not coming to Vegas revolve around the same issue: No Investor group. So, thanks for making my point, until Vegas has an owner, it isn't going to get MLS 'in three years'.

Since, you seem to care about Bay area commuting times, for what it is worth, I can get to Raymond James Stadium in 35 minutes. If it takes you over an hour then you drive like one of our snowbirds.

Not to get picky, but Las Vegas also had a CISL franchise that lasted a couple years and even won a championship.

Yeah, I'd put the CISL in the same context with the MISL.

For a guy who loves indoor soccer you crack me up the team has not played one game and you already expect them to fold . There is a reasion why you wright about indoor soccer and dont one a team you dont have a clue .

Now if the MLS is looking at the success of a Pasl team then they need to just fold the League now no way are they going to decide the future of any team based on a pasl team making it in vegas .

The National Sport collectors convention went to Vegas several years ago and they got well over 650,000 people in the door in 4 days so vegas can support a pro sports team the down side with vegas is the Heat Give them a chance to play a season before you bash a team who is trying to keep indoor soccer alive

Prognostications from 32,000 feet where the air is clear except on commercial aircraft:

Harrisburg SHOULD sit this one out... They won't and will immediately regret it.... Predict 1500 for the home opener, followed by 350 and then... Oh my!

Vegas WILL finish the season (crapshoot but I will take the bet) with a massive following of local Hispsnics (twelve), the occasional tourist and curiosity seeker... This makes Vegas about as MLS viable as Sacramento (fool's gold -- wait, that's another great potential team name!).

Dallas and San Diego will rekindle one hell of a rivalry... With one fifth their previous fan base. Bring back Juli Veeeeeeeeeeeee!

I think Vegas will do well all the gamblers who bring the kids with them this is perfect for the kids to go to the game while mom and dad gamble , the casinos will buy the tickets to shit the kids up to keep mom and dad at the table gambling

I can understand spelling/gramatical mistakes, but I have no idea what you are saying in that second sentence of yours.

By the way, if you pay closer attention, I was talking about the MLS not making a go of it there, not the PASL. The PASL being so low budget just might have a chance there. Get a bunch of drunks who are down on their luck and have never seen a pro game before and they may break even or make some money.

Even if I had the money, I'd spend it on a golden toilet and wallpaper made of $100 bills. Indoor soccer has and always will be a money losing sport! There are a few select teams (Baltimore and a few PASL teams) that might make money but that's it. So you are "wright," I'm not going to be foolish and waste my money that way. I think anyone even contemplating the idea of owning a pro indoor team these days, in this recession, ought to have their head checked out!

I guess you need your head checked out because u keep talking about it If the Mls put a team in Vegas it would make money no doubt the MLS is not going to toss a team anyplace becuase someone has the money to throw away .

Well no major league teams have made the move nor established themselves there yet, but you better take up on the action because they now have a well renowned PASL team!!

I'm telling you it's gonna be like the gold rush - all these major league teams are going to flock there after the PASLs Knight's first season!! They'll be dying to join in on the action!

More seriously, what's the news with the DC United moving to Baltimore? The latest I heard was that the DC United owner would have to pay for the survey done by the Maryland Stadium Authority if they didn't make the move and that they had extended the lease on good ol' RFK for 2 more years!?!?!
