I personally would've picked Diana Matheson over Scott, but can't really argue with any of the picks.

Rampone got on the team, IMHO, based on a sort-of "lifetime achievement award" type of thinking. She made quite a few mistakes this tournament, and there were at least a half-dozen players I'd have picked over her.

Yeah...probably Renard from France over Rampone.

    A few of my own.

    Super Sub: LeSommer, France.

More Passion Than I Thought Possible: Ohno, Japan. What a great performance.

Thuggy Huggies: Tancredi, Canada. Cry me a river you filthy hack.

Lost in the midst of the Tancredi stomp is the fact that she had a very good tournament. Her best performances ever for Canada.

    No players from france?
    1 player from Japan?

Rampone must have been lifetime achievement or simply received this honor for just organizing what was probably the US worst backline in history to a gold medal. that is impressive

Worst US backline in history? lol.

Scott? lol. How about Matheson or Heath?

    Who gets the Rivaldo Award?

Uppercut Award goes to the columbian smut.

    Le Sommer should get something.

    Best goal goes to Rapinoe.

at least this backline didn't let a straight corner kick go behind the net ;)

    Bahahaha.

I think Kumagai should probably be there over Rampone. Rampone was passable but she didn't have a great tournament.

On a skill level, I'd like to have Abily there but 1. her coach is an idiot so she didn't actually get to play all that much, which means 2. she didn't get a whole lot of chances to show her stuff. Lloyd is good as any given that she had a pretty good tournament.

Anyway, I think they've gotten most of the players that had a good tournament in there.

My vote would have to be to either Carli Lloyd's goal against France to make it 3-2 or her second goal against Japan.

Both were great strikes...but how often is an Olimpico scored in any soccer game, let alone a women's soccer game?

It would be more impressive if Rapinoe had just lied instead of admitting that it was a mistake on her part, and she didn't hit the ball where she intended.

Desiree Scott had a break out tournament. A revelation in the holding mid position.

Agreed. She saved Canada so many times. I'm excited to follow her career.

Agree that Rampone should not have been on this list. Also, Tancredi should make the list. Love Scott on there. She was so clutch in that midfield and did so without help from Kyle for most of the games. That winger from Brazil should be on the list (not Maurine, but the other one).

Morgan > Tancredi. Other than that, it's good list. Thanks for sharing.

It's definitely a very well thought out list. Personally I wouldn't give Great Britain 3 spots on the 18 person list. They did very well in the group stage, but it was definitely a very weak group. Marta is a great player, but I don't think she should be rewarded for her play in this tournament. She was only able to score and assist against a very weak Cameroon team. Cristiane actually did a lot more for Brazil. I'm also glad to see that Rampone was left off the list since she had a much better WC than this tournament.

Most improved player since last year-- Renard? Wouldn't put her on the all-tournament list though.

I suppose O'Hara deserves an argument there too.

For this tournament, Bardsley'd have been my choice at keeper, but its not like Solo was disappointing.
