I have a list with the 422 richest sports clubs in the world:

    http://www.stadiumzone.weebly.com

Only two MLS clubs and a few Mexican in the list?? I thought both leagues should be bigger, how about the New York Red Bulls for example?

    Go Yankees bitches!!!!!!!

BTW, I saw college teams on the list making more money than a lot of pro teams, that's weak.

Why is that weak? College sports are very popular. They have lots of income. I'd much rather go to or watch a college basketball game than an NBA game. College and pro football are about equal to me. I watch one on Saturday and the other on Sunday. No conflict.

This list is questionable. Some of the revenues are either too high for some or too low for others. It's bullshit.

What I meant to say is that how can US college teams make so much more money than some 'big' clubs?

Because America is a big place. Sometimes people seem to forget just how big, relative to Europe.

For example: the Texas Longhorns football team made more revenue than Rangers, Bolton, Hull, Newcastle, or Stoke City.

Austin, Texas isn't thought of as a particularly large American city. But with a metro area population of 1.7 million, it'd be the fourth largest city in England. Add in a half-million or so UT alumni scattered around Texas and around the country (and their families) and you have a sizable base to draw from.

Compare that to Hull (population around 500,000), Bolton (population around 250,000), or Stoke (about the same), and it's obvious why UT's revenues are higher.

Glasgow is a bit larger, at around 2.5 million...but, of course that's split between two major teams. Tyne and Wear is actually smaller than Austin, and it's split between Sunderland (just higher than UT) and Newcastle (just lower).

Then add in the fact that the UT Austin stadium seats more than 100,000 fans. Then add in the fact that American national broadcasting rights in general are more lucrative than British ones, because they cover a lot more eyeballs (and UT has its own $10 million/year ESPN deal). It all adds up pretty quickly.

Because america/cananda combined, is equal in monetary sense than all of europe combined. This means europe split the same amount of money between about 600 soccer clubs. While in north america, there's only about 150 professional sports teams including mls. The remainding amount of money gets spent on college teams. College teams are the true equal to 2nd divisions in England, and equal to that of the first division in some of the smaller leagues such as czech republic or dennmark.

MLS has a very strict salary cap. I don't think you're this moronic by accident. Did your mom drop a 1-gallon jug of tequila on your head as an infant?

When the MLS teams don't even compete with the Mexican teams in the CCL...i's not really a far fetched point.

Not really, by the numbers Liga MX is muuuuuuccccchhh better than MLS, just like the Brazil League is much-much-much better than Liga MX.

Based on coefficients LMX is about 40 points better than MLS, Serie A (BRA) is about 50 points better than LMX (Imagine the huge difference between Serie A and MLS)

thats right man. Its no stretch at all. Really? Its news to you? Mexican teams have reached the final of Copa Libertadores....nuff said really!

But I`ll go on just to prove my point further......mexican teams practically dominated the Copa Sudamericana the 4 years Concacaf teams were invited! Mexican teams have a winning head to head record against all Conmebol leagues in both Libertadores and Sudamericana with the exception of the brazilian league!

Mexican teams are currently dominating the Concacaf Champions League like no other league has dominated any continental tourney.......ever! The last time an mls team eliminated a mexican team from the CCL I think Richard Nixon was still president of the U.S.:D

Mexican teams have indeed proven that they are muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccchhhhhhh better than mls teams!

Liga MX is closer to the Brazilian league, than MLS is to Liga MX

Personally I agree with you, but not if we go by coefficients.

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/¿deriamos-de-tener-coeficiente-en-la-libertadores.526674/page-3

    Brz.....93.684
    Mex....49.767
    Bolivia....25.333
    Difference = 48.917

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/concacaf-champions-league-coefficient.1187575/page-16

    Mex...81.624
    Can...47.5
    USA...36.375
Diff (using only USA) = 45.249

But one thing in favor of MX is that Mexican teams have eliminated Brazilian teams in Libertadores, MLS teams have not eliminated MX teams. So the argument could go either way.

Edit: Also Libertadores is a much more difficult competition than the CCL and the last 3-4 years Mexico scored has taken a hit by the MX champs going to the CCL and the Monterrey teams doing shit in the Libertadores.

Actually Mexico is closer to Bolivia than it is to Brazil in the Libertadores (23.767 point differnce).

MLS would probably be around the Venezuela, Peru mark in Libertadores.

How did you come to the conclusion that MLS teams are richer? The report shows that MLS may have more valuable brands, but observe the enterprise values (EV) and the percentage of that value accounted for by brand value (BV/EV) for the whole story.

The Mexican clubs have have higher enterprise values than all MLS clubs but Seattle, LA and NY. Also the BV/EV ratio is lower for the Mexican clubs. For example, RSL has a brand value that is higher than Pachuca's, but the latter team's total value is about two-and-a-half times as much.

If MLS brands are already worth more than some top FMF clubs (and even Brazilian and Argentine clubs), if they can make up ground in other revenue sources, they could eventually become pretty dominant in this part of the world.

IF IF IF. You guys' favorite word.

They won't become dominant, btw. Dream on.

Are you using it as an excuse? That would be sad and moronic. If a guy cut off his own legs, then gets pwned in a race, does anyone wanna hear him say "But I cut off my legs!!! waa!!!"?

It's really funny how emotional some of you guys get about this subject. I'd stock up on Kleenex now, if I were you--the FMF won't be super-dominant in this region forever.

Awwww. You guys are adorable. :) Are you mad because MLS brands are already worth more than FMF clubs that have been around 3 times as long? I remember Mexican fans were so confident that the US national team would never catch up to theirs either. How'd that go? But hey--if all those exclamation points make you feel better, keep piling them on.

You don't know that. It's very possible that the super-dominance will continue forever. Then you'll be the one who will need Kleenex. You already do now, since your teams get pounded every year.
Only like what, 2 are worth more? And that doesn't matter one bit since they get crushed on the pitch anyway. That's what matters.
