In Spain since the € started prices have increased a lot, specially in certain sectors like drinks and restauration.

If theoretically 1€ =166 pts, nowadays with 1€ I can only buy what I once could with 100 pts. And all in just 7 months.

Still, the government tries to make us believe that there's no inflation.

Does this happen in the other Eurozone countries?

I read an artical which said that prices have risen 20% in popular turist zones in France and Greece.

The Germans dont like the Euro too since everything has become more expensive.

I witnessed the introduction of the Euro here in Austria and my money disappears alot quicker now than before the Euro.

companies have definately taken advantage of the confusion the introduction brought with it and sized the oppertunity to twist the prizes.

Yeah, in Spain the inflation is pretty bad.

I remember the last time I visited in 2001, a bag of sunflower seeds costing 100 pesetas (€ 0.60) and my family tells me they now costs €1, which is 166 pesetas, a 60% increase!

    No Euro in England. :)

Blair wants it though, he wants to become president of Europe, seriously. :(

I've no problem with new money, as long as it doesn't make things more expensive, which at the moment it is, so the Euro can F* off.

Just what I told you, now 1€ = 100 pts, where it should be 166!

I'm not against Euro, I think it's a good idea in itself, but it's not working as it should. I just wanted to know the situation in the rest of the Eurozone.

Of course the pound has fallen heavily against the euro before its recent recovery

When i was first in germany i got 1.5 euro to the £
at one stage it was near parity

Funny thread bump! Did you intentionally wait 10 years to bump this thread? :-D

I moved from Leverkusen, Germany, to Vienna during the introduction of the euro. Vienna is a more expensive city anyway, so I can't really say how much of that was due to the euro and how much to the change of location. I don't really worry about this kind of stuff anyway, since there's little I can do about it other than move to a cheaper country.
