Did anyone notice the big sign that said "THIS IS NOT A RIVALRY. #THATISALL"? (For the record, the strikethrough was mine BTW.)

No wonder they still can't sell out Pink Cow Echo Chamber. Your thoughts on the third grade - check that, preschool mentality of Empire Supporters Club?

Yeah, I don't know why there so persistent on saying the Union matches Are NOT rivalry matches. I'll never understand that.

Even their own team advertised this week on their website as rivalry week.

I guess if we played in a tiny arena like PPL Park it would have looked fuller, considering attendance was 21k today. I'd say that there was probably about 18-19k people actually there, and yet, that still fills PPL Park. So really, what point are you trying to make? That we can't always fill up our extra 7k seats?

Would argue that the result on the field is about 100x more important.

    RBNY - 1st Place
    Chester Molsters - 9th Place

And we know you guys just really want to be rivals. We get it, you want to feel relevant and important. Sorry, you're not. There's always Columbus...

Announced was nearly 22k. And like I said, I'd agree that it wasn't that many actual people there. Even with spotting you 4k seats, that's still a capacity crowd at PPL Park.

18k people means 7k empty seats. I don't think you realize how empty that looks. But 18k in an 18,500 seat arena looks packed. Pretty simple concept.

But at the end of the day, I'd rather win in front of 100 people than lose in front of 18k....

You do realize that by putting up TIFO that says, "This is Not a Rivalry that you are making it one. That just adds fuel to the fire. If you want to have an intelligent conversation about it.

The message is just as much towards the RBFO as it is towards the Philly supporters. Our Front Office, for some stupid reason, listed today as rivalry day. Despite the fact that DC has been around much longer, hated much longer, and results in the Atlantic Cup being awarded to one of the two squads every year, they still can't even recognize how much it means to the fans.

I get your point, but what it comes down to is that it's NY(NJ) versus Philly which even though it's two years old, automatically constitutes a rivalry to fans and the FO. Not to mention, it's good for business, bring in cash and great for promotion. You have to admit that it is pretty impressive that this match was on straight ESPN.

I'm pretty sure that RBNY is on national TV more times than any other MLS team, but I get your point. It's good for the sport to have rivalries and to be on major channels like ESPN. I'm not saying that these two teams can't be a rivalry (geographically speaking, it's inevitable), they just won't be the rivalry, at least not until RFK crumbles to the ground and the DC Scum moves.

Being the closest teams to each other geographically, and having the LeToux connection, we are your main rivals until one of us wins the cup and you've had a 15 year head start.

After all, non-rivals don't post in other fans forums nor make tweets and tifos about apparent rivalries. If you're not rivals, then why are you still talking??

Someone from your side felt inclined to start a thread about our banner. I responded in kind. You are not the main rivals. You don't understand, you haven't been to DC-RBNY games, which date back many many years. The stuff that has happened both on and off the field, and the years head-start are big factors in why RBNY-Phi is not yet a rivalry. Some day, but not today.

Who started the rivalry doesn't matter... you came back to defend why we're not. Only rivals are so antagonistic.

And how many of your announced "22k" attendees today were union fans? At least 15%.

Oh nice big crowd today on both sides... bigger than you get for other matches. Lot of people travel. TV atmosphere. but we're not actually rivals...

15%? Who the hell are you kidding?

DC Scum game sold out. We routinely send 500-1000 people down there because it is a huge rivalry. I get it, you want to be included. Sorry, not happening.

We get it. why are you still here? if you don't give two shits, then what was the point of the banner anyway? sounds like someone's trying to start the rivalry they're not part of...

Yes, because WE made the banner that started all this shit. Congrats, you don't want to be our rivals. The more noise you make about it the less true it will be. That's how rivalries work...

Maybe Bigsoccer can set up a 'Non-rivalries' forum for all those Pink Cow fans that want to talk about the Union . :whistling:
