I guess we'll finally see if Martin is really a top player now that's he's at a big club.

Lille are also getting Affelay, who had a terrible Euro, though he is more than decent. Obviously he is no Hazard but I think he will be a good acquisition.

Affelay is a great pickup for them. This shows real ambition I feel. He's rotting away at Barca, i feel he'll become quite the player for Lille. Damn les Lillois showing ambition here, looks like they want to stay in the top quarter of the table for good now.

LILLE GREW SOME BALLS by getting Ibrahim Afellay

So the offer is on the table. Would be a pretty big coup for Lille.

they'll probably go after him if debuchy leaves, they might want to rethink it though since bosingwa will turn 30 in august, but if not then it would add more depth and experience especially for CL or EL..

Very nicely written which is odd since whatever I read from espn regarding soccer is usually dealing with how great the prem is, messi vs ronaldo and the pros and cons of mls
whoever wrote that did their homework and got all the facts right to my knowledge

I like the emblem even on the shirt but it took me a little bit to pay attention to it as I was confused with the blue skarf like tope to the kit.

I dont know about burning brighter. They lost 3 starters last year and this year looks like they will lose at least 2. 3 of them are French internationals and to lose them to clubs like Newcastle is troubling to me. Yes they are favorites for a top 3 finish but lets not make everything out to be rosy. You cant stop players like Hazard from going to Chelsea but they need to work harder to keep players like Rami, Cabaye, Debuchy.

I'm pretty sure they tried to replace them and will again do so this season, plus what french team hasn't lost a couple of starters? even psg replaced their starters with better ones
top 3 finisher in the french league is pretty good for a league that plays "who can replace what they sold the best"

This is how teams slide. They replace their great players with weaker players and eventually it catches up to you like at Lyon. Grioud at Montpellier replaced with unknown South American ? Yes theres no way they will come close to what they did last year.

they can try, other teams do the same as you have noted making the playing field much harder to gauge, it's france
