  4. It seems that our mid field power Karim is on his way to Aston Villa for around 2.5 million €€.
Sigh, that was a player transfer I didnot want to see cause he's so important. Of our mid field power house now only Clasie is still there.
Rumour is that Man City is signing some young talent and immediately puts him on the plane to Zestienhoven.........As I stated before I donot like big money clubs profiting from our Academy quality, unless for a million €€ fee per year.

It was inevitable that Karim would move on. I am mostly disappointed with the low fee that Feyenoord continues to receive for its players. There are plenty of midfielders to cover for El-Ahmadi's departure, but I am not sure any will supply the energy level that he did. To date, Feyenoord have brought in these new mids: Vormer, Goossens, Omar E, and Immers. Tony Vilhena will be on the bench this season (attacking mid) and even Leerdam could play in the midfield if he is not sold, or is displaced by Janmaat at rightback. Mokotjo is still available also.

  7. You just beat me with that message! Also from Norway on a rental basis from Manchester City 20 year old attacker Omar Elabdellaoui for a year is added to the team.
According to AD Sportwereld Singhstarted at Furuset IF and changed to 5 times champion Valerenga in 2003. The technical gifted mid fielder was selected for all youth selections of Norway and made his debut as a national team player against Denmark in januari 2012. According to van Geel he is the same type of player as El Ahmadi and has a powerful shot in his leg. He was born in Oslo, but his roots are Indian.

By the way, for those interested and able to receive Belgian television, watch the complations of Rock Werchter every night, very entertaining and tonight a band from Feyenoord fan Panicfc home Alabama, the Alabama Shake. ( has it a meaning that Alabama Shake?)

  8. I hope some club spends incredible silly money on Robin van Persie.....that way Feyenoord and Excelsior are going to cash in at last with his transfer after the peanuts Arsenal payed for him.
Someone on this forum surely knows the arithmatics of the compensation for the development years.

Feyenoord defeated SC Feyenoord 3-0 in a training match on Friday. Harmeet Singh was the only player to go the full 90 minutes, and the trainers were impressed with his fitness. Hopefully he inherits the Energizer Bunny title from Karim El-Ahmadi.

  10. Compilation of 2 newspaper articles:

    Update on Harmeet Singh.

Feyenoord considers Singh as an investment for the future and thus is given time to succeed in the “Kuip”.
The new signing does not lack confidence as the new mid fielder, who is proud of his Indian roots, states ”I’m very ambitious”.
Friday the 6th of July he was for the first time on the training pitch at Varkenoord, but it did not show at all. With the ball he made an excellent first impression and was very relaxed in the way he intermingled with the new team mates. He claims to be a very social person and that there are good guys walking around here.
He was sought after by many clubs but his decision was quickly made last season when he was in the “Kuip” watching Feyenoord – FC Utrecht. “I was very impressed by everything I saw there. The supporters were fantastic and I liked the way of playing. Feyenoord is a club where young players can develop. This is a good step for me. Rotterdam is on top of that a nice city, where I immediately felt at home.”
His fellow Norwegian Omar Elabdellaoui, who is being hired from ManCity, will join him.

Singh’s parents both are from India. “My whole family is from there. I was born in Oslo, but I also lived in India for a year as a child. I went overthere every summer too. Because of football it did not happen in recent time, but I still have a lot of contact with my family in India. I play for Norway, but I see myself as half Norwagian, half Indian. I’m very proud of my roots.”

That pride he also emits as a player. “I’m a player with a winners mentality. I’m very ambitious. I want to be the best. So you have to play where the best players are. Feyenoord is the best club in the Netherlands. This is a splendid opportunity for me. I have patience, work hard every training and bit by bit want to get closer to the first team. I want to develop as a player. That’s the most important to me”.

Technical manager Van Geel brought him in as a replacement for Karim El Ahmadi, as he is the same kind of player.

Singh: “To be honest I did not see him ( Karim) play that much. He is Karim. I’m Harmeet Singh. I am a player who wants to have the ball and dominate matches. I have a good shot too, but do not use it much. I’m more the kind of guy who wants to give the pass to bring a player in scoring position”.

In his debut in the friendly against the SC Feyenoord amateur side Singh showed that he could be faster into the first team than the club management has anticipated, as Singh claimed the leading role in the 3-0 win.
Not much had happened yet when Harmeet did put the ball over a thirty meter on Lex Immers “stropdas” as we say in the Netherlands ( In modern terms I could invent the expression “a laser guided precision pass”) and the crowd instantly was on alert as Singh did the same thing not much later with Sekou Cissé. Koeman, being a specialist in that area himself, could not suppress an admiring smile, as he knew after those razor sharp passes that his addition to the team was okay.
Koeman said:’Two balls like that are often sufficient, he sees the moment and drops the ball where he wants it to be. That’s good to see.”

Of course the opposition was not that strong, but this test revealed Sings’ qualities. Blessed with technique and insight he was dominantly present between the two penalty boxes. With ease he switches from a controlling role into a more attacking one.
Koeman stated “he is simply a good mid fielder with real footballing qualities. He has a good passing, reads the game very well and is steady in his football”
That he was brought in for the future does not mean much to Koeman. “If it is good, it comes fast. We have a lot of future in our team. The best play, 16 or 34. That does not matter. We should heed to be cheering already, but the first impressions are positive”.

Eye catching was that, as a new comer, he loomed large in coaching his fellow players. “That’s my character” the Norwegian said, “Even if we do not speak the same language, we understand each other. It is enjoyable playing football with so many young, good players around you. With this group it is easy to connect, because everybody is young and wants to have fun. Most players are in the same phase of their career as I am and want to become better. When I was 16 I received offers from England and France. Physically and technically, I was already prepared for that, but not mentally. Now I am grown up. This was the time to go.”

I cannot wait for the new season to begin, it will be interesting.

I guess that I was wrong. Ramsteijn did not injure himself but only played ~20 minutes as per the plan of the technical staff. They will ease him back into fitness, allowing the knee to test itself slowly.

I hope above all else that Vilhena gets developed this year. I even hope, he and Acha boy are deployed close to each other all the time and Koeman tries to nurture their understanding. That would make me start to value Koeman. Make it happen Ronald.

Nah DRB Ananas is too fragile for a forward, he reminds me of Ozbiliz, neither are Messi's. Elvis Manu is a much better prospect.

I still have to see more from Manu to have a clear picture about him, but I not only like Acha boy the player, also his interviews have surprised me in a positive way. The kid has my full support and I am looking forward seeing him getting more first team playing time. He has had so far pretty flat performances (apart from the time he made his debut or somewhere in that period), but I think he is one of those guys that really need to adapt to the more physical and mature environment Eredivisie is compared to what he is used to. However above all else he needs to be used in the correct matter. Acha-boy needs the ball in his feet and then there must be a very strong urge in the team from midfielders to use him in the one two's. He needs to be played with as many deep going midfielders as possible. Then he can be a great force. I of course hope he can use this year to have a greater success rate of his own creating power. Really being able to get passed another player. Maybe even goals.

  18. Koeman stills hopes for a striker, preferably Guidetti, as the friendlies have shown that in the cramp penalty area Feyenoord showed too little efficiency and combination power by Fernandes. He is more the guy for the space, behind the defense. The youngster Achabar is considered not fully up to the job yet to be considered, though I think he has the technical skills required. Ronald had the opinion that against amateur sides you have to win in the double digits.

Yeah, I'm with you on this. Achabar needs to play a season for Excelsior IMHO. He is too short and timid to be our striker for this season. Manu was fairly impressive in the few matches he played towards the end of last season. Still, we need a world-class striker for the CL playoffs at least.

    Yep.

BMI and de Vrij to take over. Good for Dutch NT, probably good for Feyenoord middle long and long term (those 2 central defenders have probably a higher ceiling, it's good money for Feyenoord's financial position and there would be a bit more money for a striker maybe), don't think it's good for the short term. Vlaar was pretty bad in the first part of the season. Second part he did well and thát Vlaar would probably be there this season. Anyway time has come for him to move abroad and get more money if he ever wants to play in a bigger competition and have that foreign adventure. He is also fit for EPL, with his posture. Don't see him doing that well in La Liga, between the technical midgets.

If this becomes fact, Feyenoord have lost all team carrying players from last year, apart from Clasie.

    • El Ahmadi
    • Bakkal
    • Guidetti
    • Vlaar
I can understand Feyenoord fans getting nervous about this. I would. However Feyenoord has great talents and would love to see them coming through.

That really, though I would like to add that even without spending much money we did very well again this year on the transfermarket so far. Could be mistaken but this summer we spent about only 1.2m euros on transfers, (900kish Immers, 300k Singh) For free we got Vormer, Goossens, Janmaat. And on loan from M-City we should get youngster Elabdellaoui this season.
We will be very dependant on these players, but it looks like a good group to me. Actually looks like a fantastic group if you remember what they cost us. Should get us in the top5 right? :)
