So, first half verdict on Webb? To my mind, his choices for cautions were both reasonable - and he hasn't allowed anything to build up too much in terms of frustration, etc. I think a nice first half. I do think that the game will heat up quite a bit in the 2nd half - remember, we need a winner here, so extra time & kicks are all part of the equation.
Ronaldo was pretty quiet when he was sticking to the left but he is roaming now and finding more room. Czech's need to attack a little more and hopefully grab a goal. Players looked tired for the last 10 minutes. I hope Rosicky comes on.
Too many bad passes in the attacking third, too many passing to players who were not there. I notice a lack of tactical planning, Portugal centralized his attempts following a simple route on the right, and the Czechs just tried to by-pass the first defensive line through long balls for the most part. Even Webb has good games once in a while. Still, we have a full half to go, so he'll have plenty of chances to really mess things up.
Not just reasonable, needed to keep this game from getting crazy. Just like Collina in the World Cup final, I never saw the point of keeping the card in your pocket for big games, it's up to you to make those decisions.
How about commenting on the reffing aspects - are you a ref? Thoughts? If you're really just interested about commenting (up or down) about Ronaldo, then go elsewhere.
Brave of Webb to call that handling foul against the guy in the wall. I'm actually surprised cause I see those let go all the time, good on him.
The thread is to comment about the game, in general, not about any specific aspect of the game which is kosher to you. Grow up. Enough. That's why I mean by a rather poor display: every attempt to pass 1-2-1 in the box fails at the second pass. The Portuguese, in particular Nani, keeps doing it without looking up. IMO, Portugal is the better team but they're just not doing things right. Bet this needs more than 90 minutes.
I looked at some of your posts from earlier matches - and ask this question sincerely: Did you not notice you've found your way into the "Euro2012: Refereeing" forum? Most of your other posts on previous games are in the PBP forums rather than reffing.
Well, sorry about that. Not a fan of Webb, but so far he's doing well. I guess I clicked on the wrong forum. Again, sorry about that.
Nani getting away with a lot. First the arm pull which allowed him a great shot. Then the trip right infront of the box denying Czech possession. Followed by the chop block that opened a lane for the shot Cech had to tip over the bar.
The chop block he was just trying to get outa the way...he didn't even see the guy coming from behind. It would be nice if coaches taught this though, make for some interesting situations.
Is that Darren Cann on the near side? I forgot his name but he's one of the best ARs in the world, I'd like to be like him on the line.
