The lengthening of the 'o' in Japanese is extremely troublesome when writing in Romaji. I use what's given in the guidebook, but for instance, Iga's 1 and 3 are both Ono, but no.1 is 大野, and no. 3 is 小野. Sometimes it's oo, as in Oshima: 大島 but other times it's ou, as in Ou, as in Satou: 佐藤, which is what Nagano's no. 13 uses, though most use Sato. The thing is that in Japan we really don't worry about it too much, because we always just use the real Japanese. I've seen people romanize their names lots of ways. And it's much worse going the other way. Also, I've seen 'oh' used quite a bit in Japan, I prefer to write 'oo' with one o with a macron, if I have to use Roman script.
Just a wild guess: depending on when this tour was planned, Spain might still have been expecting to qualify for this summer's U17 Euros and WWC and therefore hoping for a sparring partner. And now that they didn't qualify they could send the national team players off to their summer break. But this is just speculation.
So basically it would make sense that Maya Ono was written "Maya Ohno" instead, since it's the same carachters as Shinobu Ohno?
I have a suspicion that DPRK will be forgiven if they behave for the next two years. In addition to Australia, it looks as if Oceania = New Zealand also have a guarenteed place. Very tough on the EU teams (50 countries, probably 20 decent teams).
Not so natural celebration from Vegalta Sendai's Ito. She promised the supporters before the match, but almost forgot about it. She's got quick feet and some shots on her.
I guess at this point we should just all be happy that it wasn't Miyama who got injured. Seriously, what's with that $%@#! Naoko is one of the more common given names, so there are a few Naoko Wadas out there. However Nao writes her name as 奈央子, which as far as I know is one of the rarer writings. So there might not be many 和田奈央子. Of course there's only one Nao anyway. Speaking of her, would anyone be so kind and tell me what she says here? I really don't understand any of it...
I am not sure it will happen. I guess FIFA wants to enforce anti-doping rules, and forgiving a team-based case of doping wouldn't go in that direction. Actually, I guess both Ito's goal are way ahead of this round's Nadeshiko League top 3. By the way, how many rounds to go, for the first leg of Challenge League? 1 or 2? And then will it stop during the summer like Nadeshiko League, to start again in autumn? Edit: oh, and by the way, sweet Minako Ito's ears are more protruding then ever...
Just finished watching the video... I so hope Iwashimizu's injury is not as bad as it could seem... If we'd lose also Iwashimizu... She's a pillar of the defense, I don't even want to think at that prospect...
About the play in Urawa: I can play in a free and easy way because they are so kind, for example when I made a mistake they said that it was OK, though of course sometimes they are severe. About the U20NT: To fight against the other countries, I think I'm required to have good judgments because of the difference in speed or feet lengths.
It will finish the first half of the league this weekend, continue through to August 5th, and start September 16th again.
Does that mean Sendai will play in the Nadeshiko League in September? Going back to a previous discussion, I think I will focus on the Vegalta Sendai Ladies when the league starts up again. With or without Same. The would be the new kid on the block, clean slate, ready to roll and show. My team...
Thank you very much. Would it be wishful thinking to assume from her words and the way she smiles when she talks about her mistakes and teammates that the senpai-kouhai relationship at Urawa is much better than at INAC? What? No, promotions happen between seasons, and the next season starts next year. The break is just the regular mid-season break, due to high temperatures, I think. You do realize Vegalta are basically Mareeze 2.0, right? Not complaining about your choice though; Vegalta is a good team to support, as they're neither INAC nor Beleza. ^_^
Oh, ok, now it's more clear what's happening to Urawa... The veterans say too much often to youngsters that it's all ok, even when they don't manage to stop opponent forwards... ok, just joking (but let's hope that they don't say too often to Wada: "Relax, it's all OK" ). So they'll keep playing even during the first part of the Olympic tournament? They have to be sure that players like Osafune or Uetsuji won't be called, even as replacements... What about GK Amano? If she was chosen as a back-up GK, she'll keep playing, unless she's called to replace an injured player? Are you sure that you meant August 5th and not July 5th? I mean, if they keep playing until august, they will be far ahead of Nadeshiko League schedule come september, and it will remain very few rounds to play in autumn... So are they supposed to finish when Nadeshiko League is still underway? By the way, I suppose they'll try to not overlap Challenge league with U-20 WWC, since it's likely that some young players will come from second division teams. What is the exact schedule of U-20 WWC? From... to...?
You can't assume anything from Nao's smiles, because I guess that she's always smiling this way, no matter what...
News from the Nadeshiko Japan website... http://www.nadeshikojapan.jp/national_team/2012/nadeshiko/61222.html
Right ankle injury, if I read well the google-translation, and she has to whitdraw from training camp and Sweden Invitational tournament... At least it's not another ACL. If it would be just a strain, maybe there is a chance that we didn't lose her for the Olympics? Could she recover in about a month? Any more news that I couldn't read from japanese?
Well that's about as bad as feared. So who of these players will be added for the friendlies in Sweden? GK: Amano MF: Nakano, Kiryu FW: Maruyama, Nagasato Asano, Kira Notice that all except GK Amano are very offensive players; the closest to an Iwashimizu replacement would be Nakano who was fielded as a defensive midfielder for most of her first seasons at Belle. I guess Yano would start in place of Iwashimizu, and Tanaka and Utsugi would be the only backups for both center backs and central midfield, which seems a little thin. And what about Iwabuchi? Is she out, too? You must have not seen a certain penalty shoot-out... T_T
Yes, they're the same name. It's officially Ono on the team lists though. The Iga no. 3 is also Ono, but not written the same way. This is what I mean by problematic.
Iwashimizu's injury is a sprain on her left ankle, which is the same injury she had a couple weeks ago. So she should be ok for the Olympics but obviously no point staying in the squad for the camp and the trip to Sweden. It's not the best preparation but they've got enough training time together after these matches in Sweden and one more friendly in Japan against Australia. As for Iwabuchi I don't think anybody knows if she can make the Olympics. If she doesn't make the Australia match, it will be difficult for Sasaki to pick her. http://www.nikkei.com/article/DGXNSSXKD0199_T10C12A6000000/?uda=DGXZZO0218874021122009000000 This says there won't be any additional players and they will go to Sweden with 20 player squad. And I've read somewhere they'll add one player from the back up players to replace Iwabuchi for Sweden trip. I wonder if they are confident that Iwashimizu will be ok for the Olympics so no replacement but they think Iwabuchi is very unlikely to make it.
