Modric also signed a 10 year deal at Dinamo as far as I remember so he basically got a shit agent, I would be very happy with Strootman, his price even inflated by Euros wont be more than 20 m Euros which is about same we have paid for our CMs Carrick/Hargreaves/Anderson in last few years.

heh Barça wanted to offer Ronaldinho a 10 year deal at the peak of his powers in 04/05. things change too quickly in football though. i think Kaká also signed a 6 year deal with Madrid. didn't make sense at the time or now

Milan Badlej, 22 year old DLP for Dinamo, he replaced Modric at Dinamo and captains the team.

Atleast to Modric level imo, its hard to judge based on difference in the league, he doesnt have Modric mobility and turns and twists going forward but the guy is a better defensively and equal passer for me.
He is physically bigger as well (someting around 6ft plus) so something like Carrick without Carrick's gift of a screen.

Strootman needs to play first for Netherlands to have his price inflated by the Euros.

As for the Polish manager, from all accounts, he was just expressing an opinion that Lewa was good enough for United and Piczsek could play for RM.

BVB are not going to sell half their team after a double.

"I have put Benzema forward after a talk with a very reliable and high source at Manchester City as a possible summer signing," Hope told Sky Sports.
"We are working closely to secure the exclusive mandate to obtain the paperwork firstly after a serious interest from the champions.
"We spoke with Manchester United two years ago and it went nowhere, which I can see is perhaps a regret on their part.
"The player has stated himself he will not go to Manchester United, however, he has not ruled out a switch to join the champions. I will have a clearer picture soon after the Euros when I have time to sit with his representatives.
"But personally I can see the business being done and to be fair it will rock English football.
"I must stress this is at discussion stages. All does seem in good order but this is football and things change fast."

Benzema's agent talking about a possible move to Man City (Obviously looking to cash in), the bolded bit is what I found interesting, Wonder if we made a proper inquiry and were cheap on wages or if he's just talking out his ass?

We had a 35 million bid accepted, but Benzema choose an option to go to Madrid instead of Manchester.

I'm talking about whether it was more unreasonable demands on his behalf (Madrid had the advantage on tax) or us being tight asses

This story doesn't make much sense. If what he wants is a raise, it makes sense to include Citeh, but no sense to knock us out of the race. If it is about a move, the same applies.

Every agent will be pimping their player out in the next month, especially with the Euros. And attach City to the rumors to get whatever bump they can.

i think we need to start looking at wages instead of transfer fees to understand why some players are snubbing us. city gives 200 a week like it's nothing, hazard is getting what... 150 from chelsea? we're just not in that game. kagawa is making peanuts compared to these guys. so, to me, when benzema flatly rejects us it's because he knows fully well that united won't give him 200 and city will.

i would jump on this deal to be honest. nani oozes talent but has not yet figured out how to harness that talent into consistent, productive play. skilled wingers are also easier to find than quarterbacks.

He has been able to to harness the talent into consistent and productive play, this season which he spent mostly out injured means nothing. I will concede that Nani for 50m is a very appetizing prospect however.

I just pains me a bit to hear that we have to sell to finance any deal, instead of just searching for the best team possible. Also nani is my favorite player on the squad.

If we were going to get 50m for Nani, we'd have offered Hazard the wages he wnted.

unless we really do have an incredibly stupid wage structure that is not aligned with today's market.

Sorry if this has already been posted, but according to the BBC, we're closing in on a deal for Nick Powell.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18396573

2M initial fee with the possibility of it being doubled depending on performance
