    lol good one.

I say 3-1 Germany, Schweinsteiger gets one, Gomez gets two.

germany have the pedigree for late goals but this has all the markings of an upset.

I haven't been impressed with Mueller today... And I really thought that Oezil would step up a bit more.

the biggest upset would be a draw i think, since everyone expects Germany to win, and those few that doesn't except a Portugese win

must be so frustrating for portugal. good defenders, good midfield, awesome wingers, but cant produce a striker of any quality whatsoever.

For the record, i argee with Chris Waddle on BBC Radio 5 ... as long as Portugal doesn't get a good Center Forward to snif out goals, they're aren't going far into the tournement

That is just our tradition, but Nelson Oliveira is a great promise. Anyone who saw the U20 WC final against Brasil knows what I'm talking about.

There was one portuguese coach who said: "Football is 11 vs 11, but in the end Germany always wins". They are mentally, physically, and tactically too strong. And it was just a great movement from Gomez.

Yeah...as a portuguese I don't feel that much frustration anymore though. We're used to moral victories.

Me and my friends are huge football fans and yet here we are drinking beer, eating tremoços and having a good laugh. It was bound to happen vs Germany.

However, I will say one thing, this team surprised me. I think we can get a win against Holland.

Portugal lost, but their defense looks even more solid than I had thought. Denmark was always gonna have a tough time against Portugal, but I think the Dutch might get in trouble too.

As expected when two teams with deadly counters meet eachother, they both defend deep and press early to interrupt every build up play.

Mehmet Scholl on Mario Gomez´performance: "I had hoped that somebody would turn him over in time, he was about to get bedsores.":) And: "I never saw Gomez play well in any match", and "How long can a team bear this?"

Looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

They played against a quality defense. ;)
I was very impressed by the good display of the Portuguese and I think they still have good chances to survive the group.

congrats to germany, i was rooting for portugal as the underdogs, so was a little miffed at german luck for the goal. but you can change every player in the german first 11 from decade to decade and they would each have got this result i believe.

the only real negative out of this game is that neuer showed he is still accident prone, but he also showed he is still a lucky gk. the backline looked solid, badstubber was ok, lahm went forward to good effect, boating was good and pulled out a world class tackle on ronnie, and i agree with ballack that hummels was man of the match, very composed even when under intense pressure.

not impressed by both teams, but looking at our defense we should be worried. Hope to score 1 fast goal against Germany and then catenaccio!!!

I think that Portugal played OK, it could have been better... Germany was really lucky. I think that Portugal will still go through along with Germany. I want my two teams Portugal and Germany to compete again in the final... :p
