Glad to hear the the Friends of Lansdowne were unanimously voted down. The most interesting points from this article to me were these... The league said they could still start play in 2013 but the team declined opting to do it right due to a suitable temporary home Team is open to possibly sharing the same name and colors with the CFL team - referenced Barcelona & other athletic clubs around the world Team will share office staff with the hockey & CFL team Will hire a coach in 2013 to start building the team a year before they start play in 2014
I'm disappointed Ottawa won't be participating next season. Hope they don't use Fury as their name, that's a lacrosse like name.
Hope they don't use the Fury name as well, it was also used by the Winnipeg Fury of the old Canadian Soccer League.
Is there something wrong with the11.ca? I've thought that Steve Sandor does a pretty good job covering Canadian soccer and is a great source of local reporting on the Eddies.
Just because you didn't get the joke, doesn't mean it wasn't funny. Looks like you need a refresher course. Try this link: http://tinyurl.com/joke4u
Now, see I must apologize because my post back to you was a joke. I really don't have anything against Seattle fans. It's a great club. Since you missed that I was joking back with you maybe I should refer you to your link so you could also take the refresher course. But I know you had to have spent some time there and you probably passed the course. So, back to the thread because I really didn't mean to start anything with you.
New update on Ottawa's NASL team : http://the11.ca/2012/06/15/legal-hu...awas-nasl-franchise-and-oh-yeah-cfl-team-too/
Site is down but I read the article last night. Basically the stadium jumped through the last hurdles, they'll certainly be ready for 2014 now.
Good. It's exciting to see them up and ready to go. Is there any other news? Are they going to be Ottawa Fury or what?
I assume the surface will be FieldTurf. Hopefully it will not have permanent CFL football lines. They can close off the upper deck in the new stand and probably have a roughly 15,000 seat venue. If they draw well it should be a nice place (providing no obtrusive gridiron markings), but if they draw the NASL norm, then it will be like the Strikers at Lockhart. Tiny crowd lost in a too big stadium. BTW, I love the Fury name.
