My gf and I will be in town July 7th for a wedding. And we would love to check out the stadium. I've already scored tickets, so that part's not an issue.

Basically I'm wondering what info you guys can hook me up with for tailgate and/or place to go before/after the game. Can I buy a scarf or two at the tailgate? I'd love to pass on some money to the supporter groups, plus their scarves are usually much nicer than the MLS stuff.

I haven't been to KC for a game in several years. And that was a Fire/Wizards game at Arrowhead (season opener for both teams, iirc).

I passed on some info for a few visiting KC fans at Toyota Park about an incredible Lithuanian restaurant (Duke's Deli & Eatery) walking distance from the stadium on Harlem. So I'm hoping my good deed keeps the karma flowing.

    Thanks!!

(feel free to move to a more appropriate area, just thought this might be the best one...)

Some of us (pretty sure few if any from that group actually made this year's trip) watched 2 games of the 2006 World Cup there before our game against the Fire at Toyota Park in 2006. Very good place, I still have some glassware that I procured from that establishment at my house :)

As for tailgate info, the Cauldron will have a tailgate in Lot F, I'm sure there will be more information on it closer to time. We have scarves and shirts, you can see some of the designs in the shop.

We're welcome to visiting supporter's although don't be surprised at a few comments, mostly in a joking manner. Truth is we don't get a ton of Chicago fans hanging out with us. After the game, people either hang out in the Member's Club (which is open to all fans post game) or back in Lot F.

I believe I watched the Dutch-Portugal World Cup game (is that the correct second team?) that set the record for total cards at Duke's . IIRC, that was the soft opening night for the Fire... locals, season ticket holders and Section 8. And that was also how we found that restaurant... way too much time to kill and the lots weren't open yet. Great, great mistake. Perhaps it was the second game at Toyota Park. I have no idea anymore.

We also don't plan on wearing any Fire gear. Our team won't be playing. I'd suspect we will mingle in with the home fans. Although I would be game for trading a Fire scarf or two for that matter. One of those things... :D

If I have time, I may try to brew a batch to bring. Or at least bring some of the batch. That would be more last minute though... Otherwise I'll probably bring some of Illinois' finest... Two Brothers.

I'm trying to get in touch with the KC fans:

Hi my name is toch (stands for christophe)

I'm a Montpellier fan, and I should be coming from france to the game on the 24 july, I'd like to have some informations, maybe a place to stay one night?? After I'll be leaving to NY
Here's what I've written on your official web site:
    HTML:
    http://www.sportingkc.com/news/2012...french-ligue-1-champs-montpellier-hsc-july-24
I'm 40, I've seen a lot of games in europe, I support my team since 30 years, I'm a cool guy, no violence, no problemo

I understand It's not an important game for you, and you have a pretty heavy schedule in the end of july, but football is a great way to travel and to meet people, and we're a great team to discover

It seems I can't make a new post on the board of KC, but I'd like to meet the KC fans, that's the fun part of traveling, present Montpellier a little bit, could you help me please?

    tks toch

We'll have a small tailgate at least the day of the game (small compared to weekend games, we'll likely have local beer as well). The vast majority of us are extremely friendly and enjoy hanging out with away fans. Some of us also enjoy scarf trading (myself included), so if you're into that you'll find people willing to trade with you.

absolutely, love to meet new people and talk about other teams, despite my anti Franco stances (due to a former boss from marseille) love to meet a fan traveling all the way from Europe to watch his team play, and talk about France, especially if you want to bash marseille :D

I'm maybe a little bit to old for bashing.....but ....j_m_t if you ever come to Montpellier you could be the king of the world:D

We're a very small team, and a family team, Montpellier is a very young city, but the people are pretty modest and discrete for southerners, we have the same president since he build the club (literally even build a part of the stadium himself) in 1974, so Marseille represente all we... "regret" about our mediterranean culture.

Buzz I would love to trade a scarf, take a look at our website shop if you see one you prefer???
They have a cool one with the "champion 2012 title" on it

I used to be the president of this:
    HTML:
    http://www.montpellierinteractif.com/
now the young ones have taken control to organise more playstation's tournaments:D

It's a small association of fans, we're seated (we do jump around on goals!!! ) we've seen a lot of games all around France and Europe, we help the fans faraway to get tickets etc...we're about 60, we have about 40 season ticket holder, we have 3 season ticket for every games available for our faraway members preferably
We have a football team, a website and the forum

I used to play in a team in Tucson as a kid so I've alway's been really interested about football in the Us, one of my motivations to come from all this way.

I'd love to have a beer, trade scarves (especially the champions one) with as well and hang out with anyone that would fly all the way from Europe to support their team. Trust me, you'll have a blast.

Wow Toch, that is an impressive distance to travel. Glad to hear you are coming. If you are looking for a place to eat one night, Kansas City is famous for Barbecue. I'm sure many will have their opinions on where to go if you ask. If you are still looking for a place to stay near the stadium, here is a list of most of the traditional hotels: http://www.hotelplanner.com/Hotels/19480-NEAR-Legends-at-Village-West
Some places like Great Wolf Lodge are more popular with families and some places like chateau for couples, depending on if you are traveling with anyone. I'm sure many of the fans will enjoy talking to you about your supporters group, and stop by the tailgate for sure, a good number of us will be there.

They posted on Twitter tonight that they're training at 6:30 at KC's Swope Park training complex. Maybe they'll be doing the same thing tomorrow night.
