I was hoping to attend a game next week but I will be heading to Paris for a few days on the day Arsenal plays Aston Villa. However, I will be in London for the away game at Everton. Where would be a good place to watch the game? I'm staying in the Wembley Park area and this is my first time in London. Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I can't go to the game because I'm with a tour group and can only break away for a few hours here and there.

    Another alternative....

Leave Wembley Park (Underground) around 2pm..

Wembley Park to Kings Cross on Metropolitan Line. (20 minutes)

KIngs Cross to Arsenal on Piccadilly Line. (8 minutes)

Turn right out of tube station and proceed to..

Ask the curator where he thinks, would be a good pub to watch the match.

Spend some time, soaking up the glorious history of our team.

    Watch match.

    Return to Wembley Park.

    :)

Thank you very much Goonermaui, especially for the line directions. That's exactly what I need because I have no idea what I'm doing. :D

I had the time of my life. I fell in love with London. Your directions Goonermauri were spot on. After a day or two riding the Tube I found it easy to navigate my way around.

I was unable to attend a tour with a legend but I did take the personal tour. The people at Arsenal were the absolute friendliest and kind people I have ever met, all the way down to the lady working at the tube station that day.

I had been taking tours all week and was rushed through all of them. As soon as I started the stadium tour on my own, workers told me to slow down and enjoy it. I was accustomed to moving from one area to the next in minutes. The tour really starts in the Directors box where you get to sit in his seat and stare out at the stadium. I sat there forever and just took it all in. I then went into the players locker room and snapped pictures left and right. Finally, I made my way down the tunnel and out on the pitch. Every worker there was so friendly. I was the only person taking the tour at the moment so the worker let me sneak out on the pitch and he snapped a photo of me.

Finally, I went into the museum and took my time through there watching all of the videos and soaking it all up. I also stopped by the Armory and spent over 200 quid on gear and collectibles. I was so close to buying an autographed RVP jersey but didn't have the room to bring it back.

The entire London trip was amazing. I met a lot of great people. I made sure to strike up a conversation with at least one Brit a day. I ate a lot of great food. Went to a great jazz concert at Ronnie Scott's. Saw two enjoyable shows, Wicked and 39 Steps. Visited a lot of museums. Did all the tourist stuff at Windsor, Bath (including cream tea at Sally Lunn's), Stonehenge, London Tower, etc.

It went by way too fast, I was only disappointed that I had to sleep some at night. By far the highlight of my trip was Emirates Stadium. I plan on going back next year and taking in a game there. I'll have to plan better this time.

I did that when I was over in February. The last several times I had been over I hadn't gotten out of London and really wanted to do so and Bath had been on my list of places to see that I hadn't been to yet. That Sally Lunn Bun is quite tasty.

I then stocked up on a crap-ton of tea at Fortnum & Mason in Piccadilly to bring back home for the missus and me.

Glad you had a good time.

I suppose the Englishmen on this thread can explain the difference between clotted cream and butter to me.

    Lol :).

You are a bit hard on him though matey - don't forget he comes from a land where butter is white, has no salt, and no taste. If you put that white butter monstrosity up against clotted cream it would be tougher to tell the difference.

OK - maybe not all that tough though :).

Bath is a beautiful town. I also found a bakery there and got a cornish pasty and ate it in a beautiful park next to a stream. The cream tea did set it off though. The Roman baths aren't too shabby either.
