    To Chicago Red Stars Owners:

What can fans expect to see out of the Chicago Red Stars in 2012?
Will there be a mixture of college/pro?
    Will you go all pro?
Could this be a prelude to rejoining WPS next season?

    Any info would be appreciated.

I sent an E-mail to the Redstars HQ (well the Email on their home page) asking about season tickets, no reply yet.

I assume WPSL-EL still looking for an 8th team, so we probably won't hear much until around April.

I hope that Arnim takes time to reply to these posts. He used to read BS all the time when the CRS were in the WPS.

"To reward our loyal fans (and because Benedictine is resurfacing their field for much of our season) we will be holding our games at various venues around Chicago. We are finalizing dates and venues now but trying to get games as close as we can to our core fan bases."

So not all games at Benedictine.

But nothing about the actual tickets yet.

Now all they need to do is tell us where they will be playing and what dates.

From what I've heard, and of course we will need to wait unril official announcements, but they will/may play at different venuse because Benedictine is getting a facelift. Maybe in Naperville where the Fire played or Depaul or Northwestern.

Red Stars sign Lauren Fowlkes, Michelle Wenino, Alyssa Mautz.

This is the making of one heck of a team.

I'm now curious as to who will be the goalkeepers.

Unfortunately I will be away most of the summer due to work. However, I may be able to come to the clump of games between June 3rd and June 10th and maybe another one here or there.

So they will play their games all over Chicago area it seems, although North Central College and Benedictine are practically down the road from one another. Northwestern is on the north of Chicago and may draw a new fan base.

North Central Colllege in Naperville is where the Chicago Fire played while Soldier Field was being renovated and before Toyota Park was built. I love downtown Naperville, friendly with bars and restaurants.

I hope the Red Stars market some of these games heavy especially the Boston Breakers and WNY Flash games.

Looking forward to seeing the red stars and naperville is ok. Don't know if I can make the Northwestern games and I wonder where the 6/8 game will be.I still can't understand why they couldn't get a special deal from toyota park.Except for a couple concerts and the fire there is nothing going on there most dates. You think TP would be happy to make a small profit.

They probably want too much of a profit. Opening the stadium will cost some money so they have to charge the stars the cost + some profit

Biggest problem - in my view, as a fan - with places like Toyota Park, is the monstrous parking fee. In essence, a hidden cost (hefty one at that) - until you've been there once or twice; after that, you get gun-shy, fearing what else they will come up with to fleece you once you're on premises (probably be a security fee pretty soon, or something).

That is true, at TP you can end up paying more for Parking than for a ticket to the game

My problem with people complaining with Toyota Park parking fees for Chicago Red Stars games is that those same people have no problem paying that same fee for Chicago Fire games.

When the Red Stars were playing there, I remember being at Chicago Fire games listening to some people saying, "well, I don't go to Red Stars games because it costs too much to park". And yet that same person is at Toyota Park for a Fire game on his 4th $8 beer.

So it's not worth paying $15 for parking plus a $10 ticket to go to a Red Stars game but it is worth spending over $50 plus a $20 ticket (and more) for a Fire game.

    What's wrong with this picture???

Back in 09 and 10, I was a season ticket holder for both the Fire and Red Stars and let me tell you, I had more fun at Red Stars games then I did at Fire games. The Red Stars were worth more for my buck then the Fire.

MRAD, I believe we are twins seperated at birth. I lurk here as well as wearedepaul.com, am a Man Utd supporter, and had more fun at Red Stars games than at Fire games. I haven't been to a Fire game since the Red Stars folded (actually, haven't been to a Fire game since they had the 1984 Sting there in 2009). I still watch every Fire game on TV, am trying to get to Toyota Park to get an Oduro jersey, but you put it best. For me the Red Stars experience was much more enjoyable per dollar than the Fire games. I'm a fan of the USWNT since they actually win World Cups, so WPS was a given for me.

If it's something people want to see they will pay. Bulls and blackhawks charge $25 to park. Bears charge $40 or more and you have to win a lottery to have the priviledge to park close. Ever go to one of those parking lots near Wrigley? When thierry henry or beckham are playing the parking lots are full.
I would rather have them playing at TP with good sightlines and a decent grass field than those damn artificial turf fields.

I agree with you on that.
IMO, soccer was not meant to be played on artificial turf. But it seems in today's world of saving money and multi-sports, that's where we are headed.

Actually, I don't go to the Fire games. If I want to watch the men's game, I go to FSC, and watch the real thing. I don't pay the big parking fees to watch the Bears either - had season tickets back in the '80s when the ticket price was manageable (no "licenses" and all that crap) - and you could park over on State or Indiana for nada, and walk over the tracks to the Field. Now, that's illegal, of course. And I don't drink $8 beers - back in the '80s, you could bring your own to the game. Also illegal now, of course - they protect the concessions' monopoly.

Am willing to go see the women live because it's an interesting game (I have daughters that have played, and these players, of course, are at the highest level of the women's game), and it's inexpensive. But they need to keep it economically real for the average schlub like me.
