The only thing that concerns me about the upcoming Seattle game is that teams that played particularly well the week before tend to not have as good of a game the next week - hence DC United's notorious inability to win two games in a row.

On the other side of that coin, teams that played poorly the week before tend to pick it up the next week and play better. Seattle certainly played poorly last week.

One thing that breaks this pattern is when one team is just noticeably better than the other team. I don't know if we are really that much better than Seattle, but I do not expect the same kind of magic night as this past weekend against Seattle. I would, however, welcome a ground out, one goal victory against a highly motivated opponent.

And this is exactly why this next game is so critical. It will set the tome for the season, was Friday a fluke or do we have all of the pices coming together finally. (Need a pre-game thread for Seattle please.)

I would welcome even an undeserved, one goal victory consisting of a lone smash-and-grab goal against the run of play, coming against an opponent composed entirely of one-legged players.

Beauty can come later. Early in the season, points is points. :D

    Max power.

With recent history, this club is undoubtedly at the put up or shut up point. Things have to change before anyone should expect them to.

Fix your quotes, people. Every time you post with those mangled quote tags, quoting the wrong person, anyone who quotes you in reply will *also* have mangled quote tags and will *also* quote the wrong person.

I agree. We need a stretch where we win three of six and pull a tie in there as well. I'm not sure why everyone is so sure we're gonna win. Seattle is a good team and we haven't been thusfar apart from last Friday. I'm hopeful, but its not easy to put wins together in this league for teams that aren't elite (like DCU).

Well, a lot has already been said, but one thing I'd luike to point out. The goal we conceded, started with a terrible kick out by Willis. He had Robbie Russell [under no pressure] giving him the option for the simple pass, and for us to retain possession, but he opted to kick it out instead. That was my only complain about Willis since he's been with the club.

I think this De Leon Cruz duo will last for a little while because thankfully it gives us time to get Pontius up to a better level of match fitness without too much pressure on him.

Another big plus is the pressure we put on them early in their possession. Totally caught them off guard. Its fair to say we ran them ragged [not even counting the score line].

Sahili is showing me signs of promise, but some of you know how it can be for a striker that doesnt have his first league goal yet. Unnecessary pressure, happens to even the most seasoned finishers. He really should've had 2 goals yesterday, but was unlucky.

Agree completely, and I'd meant to mention this. This team has a long history of keepers with distribution issues. I'd hoped that Pat Onstad's presence would go a long way toward solving this problem, and maybe it will; but it hasn't yet, with either Hamid or Willis.

Anyone know where I can find a pic of the team with their hoodies (some of them up) during introductions? Thanks.

I happened to have just closed that set of pics - I remembered seeing at least one hoodie shot, didn't remember if the multiples were there or not - the fine, if not a bit pedantic, BS poster MattMathai is the one you should rep for the actual pictures :)

If you can't rep someone on BS, go out and Favorite one of their tweets, right? ;-)

Yes, I believe my exact words last week were that he is "about as useful as a kickback."

So I'm busy this week trying to come up with something equally harsh.

He's probably too busy basking in adulation for all his pictures.

    Or maybe working.

I mean, it's not like I haven't TRIED, just not lately.
