A mate of mine supports Leicester City - I texted him last night to tell him that Torres has now scored as many goals against City as against the entire Premier League.

Their defense on both goals was extremely shoddy and lazy.

saw the replays - the first goal was atrocious - he messed up the kick - and that actually allowed it to roll at 10mph past the terrible goalie.

the second was a good flick from a corner - but the goalie again made no effort.

They should never of offloaded Hobbs. He had 2 great seasons in defence but once Sven took over he was overlooked despite being the previous seasons player of the year.

    Ha! right.

And Terp the second had two defenders slowly walk behind him as he made a near post run, both a clear step behind. He did dispatch the unmarked header well.:D

The goalie probably watched the game tapes in prep for the match and figured...."No problem, no danger! Ooops, shit!"

Muamba wakes up to find that Torres has scored twice. "Fuc*k me!" he says, "how many years was I unconscious?"

He looks just like Andy Carroll there.

9 million quid. Our scouting network is far too narrow, I think. Years ago buying British guaranteed guts and determination, if not skill. Nowadays, it's the foreign lads who seem to care more. And they're generally cheaper and more skillful, too ..

Wayne Rooney has visited Fabrice Muamba in hospital. "He's making great progress and can almost string a sentence together" said Muamba:D

Where would you like/hope to see the club expand their network to?

I just think Dalglish and Comolli are trying to change the image of the club a bit.

They probably feel that signing and playing British players will make Liverpool a more attractive destination for young British transfer targets in the future. It's a reasonable theory. But, right now, there isn't enough good British talent available to make us title contenders.

There hasn't been enough for the last 10-15 years, to be honest. And 10 years ago, to be fair, British players guaranteed you grit and guts, while the foreigners were[seemingly] merely coming here for a final pay-day. Now it's the other way round, it seems to me.

Rooney and Ferdinand were the most obvious two, and they were going nowhere other than United.

I think that's the issue Kenny and DC want to address.

As long as the few players on this very short think of Liverpool as a 3rd or 4th option, then we are in trouble.

Anywhere and everywhere. Can’t limit ourselves.
Even in Britain we don't seem to be getting the best that's available. Look at how Swansea, QPR and Wigan over-ran our midfield, or Sunderland kept harassing us off the ball. They have a large core of British talent.

Also in the Carling Cup final, see how Cardiff were able to get a goal back right at the death (the warning signs went unheeded or the players aren't just good enough) and we went on to repeat those mistakes.

I really hope thats not their strategy, Britain is not exactly the hotspot for football talent at the moment.

I get the whole "appealing to your base" thing but football is a bit more expansive than that nowadays.

True. But, who has won the last few numerous titles? United and Chelsea? Both had a core of English or British players at the heart of their team. All the while, Liverpool and Arsenal struggled with mostly foreign players (Gerra/Carra being our exception).

Man City this year is a minor exception, but they still have Hart, Barry, Richards, and a few players that have already had 5+ years in England with other top teams.

I do not think DC and KD will _only_ search for domestic talent, but I think that will be their first choice in a lot of cases - especially if the player is young (Jones, Henderson, etc.)

Think they were trying to patch holes in our homegrown quota. I expect those holes to be filled by academy players in the future, but I see the business of the last year as laying the foundation to build on. We have the potential of a solid core, but now we need to go get those world class players to make the difference.

Still kills me that we never tried for Farfan when we got to see him at Psv in our rafa glory days. He's killing atletico in this game.

Kills me we didn't get this Messi kid when we saw him play against Rafa's team. Should have bought him then even though we contained him. Did you see him kill Leverkausen?
