I honor of some news from my brother, this thread is dedicated to all instances of Crew supporters seeing Eric Gehrig running downtown... and wanting to boo... but not booing him.

    The text conversation today:

Garyn: Just saw Eric Gehrig running downtown. Weird.

    Me: Did you boo

Garyn: No but I just said "keep running Gehrig." Lol. He was nice and was like "hey how's it going" as he ran by.

Now a disclaimer: This thread is only about instances of Crew supporters seeing Eric Gehrig running and wanting to boo him. This thread is not about seeing another Crew player or coach running and wanting to boo them. Please keep this discussion focused solely on Eric Gehrig.

Also, please no side conversations about how our Crew sucked this past Saturday or wanting to Fire Robert. That stuff belongs in other threads.

But I will allow discussion of how much Eric Gehrig sucks. Though, discussion is allowed of how Eric Gehrig apparently is training hard for the north end marathon.

Aww I wouldn't boo Eric. He's a serviceable back up with a low salary point, and from all accounts he seems a nice fella and a hard worker.

We've definetly had worse players in his spot.

Similar sentiments were said of another Eric.... (Denton). We all know why that sentiment changed.

I didn't see Eric Gehrig running downtown, but I did boo him. So I guess there is an equilibrium.

I don't remember saying that about Denton at all.

I do remember saying, "The only reason you have a job is because you're left footed."

ahhh... the good old days of MLS when you could be horrible but if you had a left foot, you could find a job with an MLS team...

The question for your brother is: Was Gehrig running backwards?

Because after last weekend's game, he will probably need to be practicing that...

Not sure if I get the Gehrig hate at all. Hes an average player, but there isn't anyone who really thinks otherwise.

I think his personality, work ethic, and skill is similar to that of Steven Lenhart.

    Not another tRR thread!!!!!

It hurts knowing that someone like Gehrig gets significant minutes on our team. He is not a main player on a championship team. Emergency backup maybe, but when guys like that start or play a lot, I know we are not tier 1 in the league.

Eric Gehrig that RW keeps playing at CB at all the reserve games? When he has played most at midfielder.

On another note Mike Lapper can't put a grocery cart away at Giant Eagle, because he did not put in it the cart corral and his damn cart hit my car.

Eric Gehrig had some good games last year.

I understand booing Warzycha but Eric G? He works hard, seems like a nice guy, and has done nothing to prove himself to be a goat.

I wish him and the other players nothing but the best. Dislike.

^ Not really a ringing endorsement when you say a player is "at least not Danny Szetela"...

I ******* hate lazy people like that.

Erig Gehrig is the captain of the reserve side and actually a pretty good looking prospect. I love his attitude, and he seems to love the city and the team from his tweets. He'd probably be one of the last guys on this team I'd boo.

I can see how the hair would be polarizing but all in all, no reason to boo Gehrig. If he's in a first team match, it either means we're pretty depleted, or we should be booing the coach.

Or Bikini Barbershop. Yowzers. Those chicks maake Snooki and JWow look like Cloistered Nuns.

They put the kank in Skank.

As for the topic which Little Miss Obey or Die has mandated, my only question is why would anyone boo Lou Gehrig? I mean, the poor guy is dead for Pete's sake. It's not very respectful to....what?...ERIC?....heh,nevermind.

Rep for the person who gets Eric to stop for a moment during his run and records him saying "Today, I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth."

I never did get the notion of booing one's own players, with the exceptions of the ones that are intentionally pissy with the fans (like Mendoza at times), and even then it's not going to accomplish anything constructive.

    But do carry on.

You were probably also the person who looked down on the supporters who chanted "Sack Andrulis" during the Bearded One's fascist regime.

I too have never booed my own team. I have never booed them on the field or while walking off after a loss.

Management is a different story. I'll rag on them far before I rag on a player. For the most part, they are out there trying and working hard. I won't boo that. Now, if they shouldn't even be there in the first place, or the hard work is futile because of a poor team system... well thats on the coach/management. I see them as different from not supporting the players.

I think it would take a really lazy player that also douched all over the city and the supporters to make me a boo a player.
