    Thanks, was curious.

I had a feeling that if 'Arry did take England next year, and Joe Jordan decided to break camp, you might think he could be a candidate.

    Never cared for Jordan myself.....

I may live in Scotland, but I don't think there are any really good managers who could come in and do the job Wenger has done.

There are only a few players who I would even rate. The standard and level has been going down for a long time. Frank McLintock commented about it in his autobiography.

I only say Billy Reid because he had a Hamilton team that punched above its weight several several seasons and developed Jamie McCarthy and Jamie McAllister.

Now if Joe can manage to get sp:eek:rs relegated, then I am all for it. :D

As if avb would take a number 2 role! I'm hoping bould becomes that then eventually takes the main job, if wenger has taken him under his wing that is

Arsene hasn't got the sack yet for the following reasons:

    - He's arguably our best ever manager (at terms of trophies won, he IS our best), and he's built a dynasty/legacy.

    - Since 2005, we've been in contention, reaching major finals and having numerous Premier League challenges.

Rafa's issue at Liverpool is that he seldom challenged for the Premier League, and his only saving grace was winning the Champions League.

I have talked to a number of people that would take a Champions League victory the competing in the league every year. I am sure some of those people are calling for his head. Everyone has different priorities and expectations.

interestingly enough, i was thinking about jol a bit whilst pondering this stuff. he's still very, very popular at the club, though he's obviously not 'longed for' as much as he would've been because redknapp's results have been undeniably superior. as for answering your question, yeah, i'd definitely say that redknapp is an upgrade, though i probably don't consider it quite as significantly so as most spurs fans. i could explain why, but i doubt too many folks here would be interested.

well, for criticizing a manager - which is what i see the 'seven year' thing as being, rather than a criticism of AFC - yes, i suppose it does. (though, somehow, i suspect that this may have been a rhetorical question for the purpose of the following point)

yeah, well, if the last 20 years have taught me anything, it's that whenever i begin to feel comfortable about a spurs lead - be it in match or table - i'm sure to be punished for it. as to how i'm feeling ... well ... i guess i'm fairly philosophical about it. the loss at yours (especially after being up 0-2) was very difficult to stomach, and frankly, would've been even without our relative positions in the table pertaining. i didn't think your lads had it in 'em, if i'm honest (i'd even stated pre-match that if we scored early - and particularly if we went up 2 - your side would likely collapse), but i couldn't have been more wrong. they were obviously very good. what was more disturbingly wrong, though, was the manner in which spurs did collapse. i really didn't see that coming. anyway - getting back to your question - that's done (and mercifully, so, too, is man u), and with the (possible) exception of chelsea away, we've got (what should be) a pretty easy run in. i still feel that we should finish above you, because i still feel that we've got a better squad. that said, if we don't, i guess i'll have been wrong on both counts, and i'll just have to live with it.

of course, if you think i'd ever bet more than a pint on spurs not letting me down, you'd be dead wrong.

why, to make this a happier, more entertaining, and more enlightening place for everyone, of course. it's not always easy ... but i'm a giver. it's just the way i am.

don't be silly. we're a happy, fun-loving bunch over there (well, maybe not over the last 8 or 9 days so much), where posting's always a pleasure for everyone. we'd never banish anyone.

    ... well ... unless they'd been disrespectful ... but ...

... you've never been disrespectful over there, have you?

    ... grim?

Like Nasri, Mata appears to have been the problem. He was waiting for a "bigger club" and said as much a couple of months back. I believe he was quoted as saying that Chelsea were a "bigger" club. I wonder how he'll feel if things remain as they currently are.

Do people still want Arsene out now? :D

I would say this team has a lot more balls than even when Cesc was here. I cannot see a Cesc team (even though IMO he is a club legend) coming back as we've done in recent games. It's the hardest team since Vieira in the late 1990s IMO (with far less red cards lol)

Amen. I love Cesc and he was my favorite player, but the team as a whole is much stronger when they face adversity in a match than when we had Cesc and Nasri. Personally, as much grief as people give walcott, we're better off with him, AOC, and Gervais on the wings.

well, he's only getting us out of the hole he put us in, and coming back 4 games in a row, while showing tenacity, means we actually went behind 4 times in a row too. it's a double edged sword to use that.

But we've won 5 games in a row. I was being a bit facetious, but due to the good run, the "Arsene Out!" posse is apparently silent.

When other teams get a new manager, the performances of the players improves dramatically, for for a few games at least .. I honestly don't think that would be the case with us if Wenger leaves ! We'll definitely reach an all time low in a really long time, which is now, apparently, according to Mr Myles from ANR and other pundits !

We've had something line a million hiccups this season and I'm not sure they've all ended already but at least we seem to be closer to the cure now ! Keep the faith !!
    Well, the years of frugality seem to have disappeared, though it did seem like we pushed our luck at times but now, we are in a strong financial position (Mr. Danglish thinks LPool are financially doing bloody brilliant, if anybody needs perspective); We seem to be buying established players, (the panic buys included + the potential transfers), seem to be changing our wage structure to accommodate the current financial climate, and still sound and look sensible at the same time, just in time the FFP is coming into effect;
All those things would have been realistically impossible without a few bruises along the way ! Keep the faith (in Wenger too) !! We're almost there !

I'm probably one of the few Gooners that don't feel that Wenger should be shown the door. I like the way the team is managed and the players we have and the ones we develop. With a few more plays made through the course of the season and a few lucky breaks most fans would be singing a different song.

Personally, I don't want to be like the other top clubs in Europe that are massively in debt because of their spending habits or those that can only be competitive because they've outspent everyone. What will Citeh have to show for their expenditures if United win it all? Will they brag about how they finished 9 points ahead of us?

One of the few?.....I don't think so. The AKB (Arsene Knows Best...) brigade is still strong. Those who were advocating Arsene's firing, albeit loud, are still the minority. Glad that their wish will not become reality anytime soon.

I think the majority want him here still. Just the ones that want him out are very vocal.

At least you're consistent. So you've got that going for you...which is nice.
