How do all of these threads turn into debates about whether Yank X (Dempsey, Donovan, Shea) could be starting for Arsenal? It's just pointless. Donovan had a great spell in Everton. I can't help but wonder how his club career might have played out if he had pushed himself instead of staying in his comfort zone in MLS. My fear is that he will be past his prime by the time he's truly "free." Then again, nobody forced him to sign those contracts. Either way, I think these two successful loan spells have earned him a lot of respect. He has an 83 rating in FIFA 12. Highest of any American.
These debates can become tiresome, agreed, yet one has to wonder how Jeremy Lin would do at Arsenal. Would he start or be mired on the bench, waiting for Wenger to come to his senses?
The fact we are even talking about him as a playmaker is refreshing, right? It will be an interesting year for him in LA with two forwards to aim for. The national team will be even more interesting - will Jurgen treat him as a forward or midfielder???? Who is he combining with? Will Dempsey help create????? When is 2/29 getting here?!?!?!!?
think the point was that hypotheticals are pointless as we can never know so there's no point in thinking about them. Not sure whether I agree or not but that's another story lol.
Well, you know, essentially he hog tied him by paying him lots of money to be a grown man, playing a game, in a place that he loves, while living in a beach house, and dating actresses, and well, you get the point. Horrible stuff though. Garber should be ashamed.
You really couldn't blame Tebow for allowing 22 goals in his last outing, 5 of those off shanked punts into his own net and two from misplaced goal kicks. The light of the Lord was in his eyes.
and Tebow is still a lot better than Joe Hart! You know, we Americans are so good and deep in the goal keeping department.
I think Lin should finish his career at LA Galaxy City University. Like Landon said, playing in the NBA week in and week out is "hard".
Landon's new twitter sig including Everton: US National Team, LA Galaxy and Everton soccer player. Proud American, Angelino, & Evertonian
Donovan still sick - not playing in friendly against Italy on Wednesday (2/29). Get Well Landon - Uncle Sam needs U! .
This (below) was interesting. Landon on loan to Chelski next year? (The part about Landon being hungry for stats was interesting too.)
In the name of all things even semi-sacred, let all fans of the game stand united in hoping that Moyes does not ever become manager of Chelsea. It's almost too profane to even think of it.
I can't see Moyes at Chelsea. To go from "you have nine pounds to spend, and a job for as long as you want it" to "you have billions to spend, win every game or you're fired" just doesn't seem like a good switch for him. Now, ManU I could see happening.
At this point, it's hard to imagine what manager with a sufficiently impressive resume to get the Chelsea job would want the Chelsea job. Maybe somebody who needs money? I'm sure someone will take it eventually, but as an actual manager, it's an unappealing prospect to be in charge of rejuvenating a team that has a bunch of old players who try to destroy anybody who benches them and an owner who will fire anybody who loses the support of those players.
