More like the environment/context of the place that the word is uttered. In England, it's a no-no.

Yeah, I asked a close friend who is Latin and she said the same thing. The word is not necessarily racist but there is no question that it should not have been used. I also imagine that Suarez was not using the term in an affectionate or friendly way.

At any rate, what happened is not in dispute, as far as I know, so while I understand that Suarez may feel wronged in some way, I'm not sure how any of it is Evra's fault. I'd be surprised if Evra only pretended to feel that he was being racially abused.

It's interesting. I was just skimming the FA's write-up of the case and what matter is only if the word was used, not what the intent of the speaker is. Since that is the case and since there is no dispute about the word that was used then I'm not sure what Suarez is complaining about.

The level of delusion amongst Liverpool FC and their fans about this is unbelievable.

They don't see the entire football world laughing at them? Looking down on them? They literally could not have handled this any worse.

No he doesn't. His hand being a little lower is not pulling away. Now you know why everyone laughs at your club.

Frankly, their defensive arguments (like the one on the previous page) are now becoming embarrassing. It's like they've been brainwashed by some cult. Suarez could take a leak on a group of children in the front row seats, and they'd still twist it into him being the victim. As you say, it's complete delusion at this point.

The delusion and misplaced faith in Suarez by the LFC fans is only heightened because it occurred against us.

That club is a circus right now. And the whole country/world is laughing at it.

That is bullshit, Uruguayans and Argentinians use that term regularly to refer to people they consider below them (race or color is not even relevant). I say this from experience as i've seen it happen.

People always overlook the fact that Suarez actually pointed and pinched at Evra's skin. His motivation and meaning are unmistakable.

Are people trying to defend Suarez? Really?

If Evra was the one that didn't want to shake hands then why reach out and grab him for not shaking hands? And in reality Evra has every right to never shake that cvnts hand ever again if he so chooses.

These are the days I really miss Keano on the team.

Keano just said what we were all thinking - that if Sparkey and Bruce and Keano were still on the team, Suarez would have gotten f**ked up.

If someone had said racially charged things to you would you be uber excited to shake their hand? Suarez should have been trying to make a point that he isn't a racist and make peace. The overture should come from him, not Evra. Instead he tries to play the victim. Complete nutter really, and probably racist.

Very nice performance, controlled the game and the only criticisms I can think of is we were happy with a 2-0 and conceded a very stupid game. Liverpool looked out of ideas and they didnt even have their regular passion as they have when they play us.
Welbeck was very good for me.

    Has to be!

I have to say something though, not directed at you, Lynne by any means.

I actually do not condone the calling of Suarez as a racist for the most part. When most people call him that, they are belittling the tag. They are utilizing and thus reducing the racism problem because it is convenient to them. What occurs is that it provides them with ammunition for this rivalryand becomes another way to attack Liverpool, like Stevie Me, or Andy Carroll's price tag or Rafa's fachts.

Lots of the people yelling RACIST! RACIST! don't actually care about racism in itself or are themselves racists, but just see it as another way to attack a player of another team. Frankly its disrespectful to people actually suffering from and/or fighting against racism worldwide. Football fans have manipulated a serious problem to fit their competitive agenda, and it isnt right.

I don't know for sure that Luis Suarez is a racist, however, he did do something that is very racist. I dont buy for a second the "Lost in translation" excuses, having personally visited or lived in 14 latin american countries. Furthermore, judging by the fact that everything he seems to do just screams asshole, I hope this is not misinterpreted as a defense of this simply despicable character.
