Argentina 2 world cups = Uruguay 2 world cups
Argentina 2 olympics (U-23) < Uruguay 2 olympics (world championships FIFA)
Argentina 1 confederations cup < Uruguay 1 (the only one) mini world cup
Argentina 14 copas america < Uruguay 15 copas america

    Conclusion: Argentina < Uruguay

Another statistics: I) Uruguay and Argentina played 12 finals between them: 10-times the champion was Uruguay (8 copas america and 2 world championships) and only 2-times the champion was Argentina (2 copa america). II) Uruguay has been 5-times wc semifinalist, 1930, 1950, 1954, 1970 and 2010, while Argentina has been only 4-times wc semifinalist, 1930, 1978, 1986 and 1990.

    So...

Well, there has been 19 World cups and 13 Euro's.
    Portugal is 0 for 32.

I estimate that a smart North American Italian, from the ones I have met is roughly 1 in 500.

So that means we will have to wait a couple thousand years to find out:D

England by far they are always talked about prior to tournaments as if they were one of the favorites and they never win anything. Won one world cup in their home soil by playing every game in the same stadium. All their players are over valued and over hyped and their fans talk like they run football. Best example is david beckham a guy that at his best wasnt even a top 50 player but is one of the best paid athlete in the world.

Well I admit it was a low blow on my part, most of the ignorant comments I have read on this forum have come from Italians, so I painted them all with the same brush, again I admit, very childish on my part.

That being said, you just named some successful Italians, to say success equals Intelligence is absurd, having a higher IQ or better level of education increases your chances for success of course, but to say some one is smart, because they are successful, is just downright false.

I also did say 1 in 500, a number I just pulled out of my ass, so to name a few doesn't help your point, considering there are millions of Italians in the U.S and Canada. Anyway you’re right though, I took it too far, I was just being spiteful.

What's that? I couldn't hear over Portugal's glaring history of football failure?

These Italian-Americans that you associate with Italy have as much background from Germany, Ireland, Greece, etc as from Italy. Anyhow, they are white Americans usually from the northeast. Back to soccer, I don't think Portugal has anything to brag about over Italy.

It's true, no trophies, however aside from 66, they only became a team to consistently make it the final tournaments in 96.

Since then, 2 qf's, 2 sf's, 1 final and 1 round of 16. Not many teams have been as consistent in the last 16 years.

Still can't argue, the fact remains no trophies, but stop living in the past, since we became consistent it's 1-0 Italy.

LOL at stop living in the past. The fact that you are counting tournament appearances is comical.

If you want to keep on with the nonsensical stuff denigrating Italians, go ahead; that's your prerogative. However, even attempting to compare Italy's record with Portugal's, at any juncture, is foolish. Even an Italian could understand that.

I actually admit that, I’m not delusional, Italy has a far richer history, in fact I'm choosing Italy as the 3rd favorite team for Euro 2012.

I am only saying I care more about the future then the past. Spain is a great example, before 2008 they had poor history, now everyone kisses there ass. Things change, the past doesn't always shape the future.

Anyway the Italy insults were not necessary, I can't retract them, but like I said, it was only because some of the comments I read from Italians were simply ignorant, and I chose the spiteful childish route, fact is I don't even mean it.

Most overrated team id say is England or Greece. Both on the rankings these teams are not that great, England maybe on paper but when it comes to the Euro or World Cup they arent a force. Now Spain is not overrated, they are good but people make them seem like there unstoppable. Spain isnt as good as the world make them out to be, yes they won the Euro and World cup but do they have the youth like Brazil or Germany to keep on being #1? NO they dont.

In this case my guess is that you didn't watch the last U-17, U-19 and U-21 EUROs.
