No, i had them turned off weeks ago. I been playing since the 2nd day of prerelease. I remember lag wasn't a big problem then. I had to stop playing the characters I created during then so I can go to one of the light servers. I'd have a level 50 character by now if I didn't leave.
I'd say it's on par with WoW, you don't need to bother with CC or anything like that till you're well into the game.
Yeah I haven't played an mmo since Star Wars Galaxies like seven years ago and I learned pretty quick.
I'm going to agree with the above. If anything it's easier to get into than WoW as the community is full of MMO novices and is generally very forgiving. You will also learn everything but the MMO lingo in game. If you can finish Skyrim, SWTOR will be fairly easy to get into. The game is fairly challenging at level 50 when the raids and heroics begin, but the journey to 50 will probably take in the region of 100-150 hours (more if you are still figuring things out) and you will pick up all you need to know during that time.
It may take longer if you want to just enjoy the game and storyline and have no want for raids. I got a bh and inquisitor that I'm doing at the same time. Might start a sith warrior in a little bit.
I was looking for a fast paced healing class on the republic side, anyone know what would be best? Always liked Shaman healing on WOW
The biggest challenge is not rage quitting due to all the bugs and glitches. Out of all the MMO's I have played none has had so many bugs as this one related to raids and instances. They have done a decent job on patching some things, but the fact they seem more concerned with putting out new content, rather than ironing out the current stuff is unsettling. So far this game has been a mixed bag for me. Totally refreshing in certain aspects of it, and a total let down in others..
I blame EA for this. They clearly tried to squeeze the release in to 2011 when the game could have used another 2-3 months of polishing. Looking at the mess in Ilum, the unfinished legacy system, and some of the most basic missing features like a customizable UI, combat log, guild bank etc. and then seeing what they have planned for the big March update just reinforces this point. I enjoyed my character story enough to give them until March and will begin alts in the meantime.
Good points. What I find strange is that theis game was in beta and development for so long, I thought they would have been able to iron more stuff out. But at the same time I dont work in the gaming industry, so dont know anything about development, etc. My issue is that raiding is pretty much the only reason I am trying this game, and I have never been an alt guy. Its the one thing I miss from my WOw days, so I thought this might be a good chance to get back into it. And I get the impression BW is really hanging their hats on the "story" part of the gane, and expect the player to want to roll different classes to get all of it. Which isnt bad per se, that part isnt for me. However the fact that I dont have to grind or farm overly much to be raid ready is nice. Having a game where I can log in for raids, and prepare for raids w/o any of the other stuff is nice also.
Anyone else have problems finding groups for heroics in the later levels? I’m finding it difficult to locate groups, especially in the Bonus Series areas.
Yeah. Especially on lower populated servers. Most stop doing heroics after the third planet. You can level pretty high by just doing your quests, plus the bonus, plus space ship battles, and pvp. No need to wait for one or two hours just to patch together a group to get the exp points that you'd probably make double that if you haven't sat around waiting for a group for that heroic.
I agree with YankBastard. I know alot fo people in my guild just skip them b/c the experience gained isnt worth the hassle of waiting around for, so they dont even bother with them. You probably know this, but in the "who" section of your social tab, you can search for "LFG" and it will show everyone who also has that in their description. You can also put that in your description and get marked with a purple icon. Its not the best system, but it helps at least.
I stopped group up for heroics after Taris because the time to find a group and do the quest wasnt worth the xp/item rewards. By the time I finished Taris I had an orange weapon, chest, pants, gloves and boots and got an orange helm shortly after so I rarely needed quest rewards other than commendations. Between the bonus series quests, pvp daily, and space daily, I hit 50 with most of Corellia untouched.
So I'm playing a Sith Inquisitor, hit level 32, finished Alderaan and went back to Darth Zash to continue the storyline... ... this has got to be one of the stupidest design choices a modern MMO could make. How much back and forth are they going to send me on? I've wasted probaly 90 mins out of the last 120 simply running or riding somewhere. At one point I had to go to the Imperial Fleet to talk to someone on the Council. Click, done. Great. What was that. Now I have to fly back to the exact same planet I was just on? And all I got out of the travel time was 1400XP and in this rare case not even a line of text? Just had to rant. Some errand-running is fine but this is beyond stupid.
The traveling between planets/fleet would be better if you didn't have to take an elevator to the hanger, board your ship, get out in the airlock at the orbital station, and then take a shuttle down to the planet.
Absolutely, there's still plenty of travelling in WoW, but removing a lot of those things makes for a better quality of life (play?) Of course SWTOR is young and there are indications that they want to implement some quality of life improvements in the future, I wonder if that would be one of them.
kinda NSFW (language and stick figure cartoon nudity, but mild in that regard.) Hilarious nonetheless. http://www.facebook.com/l/dAQG5PSea...o-punctuation/5323-Star-Wars-The-Old-Republic
THe link comes through as an empty grey box when I post it. I thought it would come through as an unsigned FB page if I sent it the way I recieved it.. (I am logged out of FB to make sure it wasnt a direct link ) [ame]http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/5323-Star-Wars-The-Old-Republic[/ame] If it comes through grey, just google "SWTOR, the escapist, Ben Croshaw"....
Thanks, I'm checking it out. Having played the Smuggler about as far as he comments on and getting bored with it there, I happen to think he's pretty accurate
