Joaquin on his way to Malaga for 4M euros. Details of the new contract will be announced on Monday, he will officially be presented to the fans on Tuesday. Although offered a contract extension in Valencia he decided to go back to Andalucia where he is from (Pto. de Santa Maria) and it should be noted his wife is from Malaga and the discos and clubs are of higher quality in the costa del sol then in the levante region!

Damn man these guys have been spending like crazy lately! Almost like another Man City...

I just checked up on them and they certainly have assembled a good looking squad:
RvN, Julio Baptista, DeMichelis, Joaquin, Monreal, Toulalan, Mathijsen... plus they already had good players like Gamez and Apono I don't see why they can't finish top 4

I hope Malaga can become one of the elite teams in la Liga. They've made some great signings this summer.

What do you guys think about Pellegrini?

Do you guys like him as a coach?

I would like to know if there is any way to get Malaga's jersey in the USA.

This is good for football in Europe. More competition to shake things up. I really like everything I've heard out of thier FO about the La Liga tv shares. They seem smart, from the way they're spending thier money, to how the Sheikh came by the decision to purchase and run this particular team considering it's locale and the fact that neither of the two big clubs will draw heavily in the south. Wow, its nice to have a club with Malaga's history see this type of turnaround. Amazing times. I can't wait for this season to begin.

You can order just about anything online. http://www.uksoccershop.com/categories/3_117.html Or you could try Ebay.

But current kits could be here soon with the new sponsorship and all of the players. I imagine this is the year their kits start becoming more available here.

Looking into it, they've recently acquired Nike as their new kit designers after having used a little known Chinese company to make their kits in previous years, so I imagine that you won't have to wait long for their jerseys to appear.

Would be fun to see Malaga in the CL next year, or perhaps a deep run in the Copa del Rey.

Pellegrini has this team going in the right direction. REALLY looking forward to that date with Real Madrid @La Rosaleda in a couple of weeks.

Here's hoping La Liga becomes more competitive bc of Málaga and that FIFA's Financial Farce Play rules don't serve to protect Barca and Real from competition.

I agree. I think the influx of money is a good thing, despite some of the negatives, and I don't mean just at Malaga.

I wish La Liga became a 4 horse race, or even more.

Exactly. Look at the EPL. It's now more competitive than it's ever been. And France may soon become relevent again if PSG's investments pay off. I'll start rooting for them again next season but for now I'm still pissed at how they dumped Kombouaré after everything he's done for them.

Well I'm pissed they stole Pastore from under Malaga's nose :D

Well that was Qatari vs Qatari there. ;)

Besides which, didn't Malaga say that they didn't want to overspend immediately. Bullet dodged there, I say. :D

Yes. Malaga's plans are slower evolution I guess. I think its important they target younger players like they did with Isco.

I think some of the players are too slow, like Mathijsen, Demichelis and Van Nistelroory. I hope they can sing somebody during the transfer window.

Probably the best that they could do was aging talent considering that this is still a club that is not yet playing even in Europa League. Next year might be the time for bigger targets.
