Hey, can someone do me a favor, I think I'm going to try training it down for games a few times this year to take the milage off my car... but I've never tried to get from PPL to 30th st. station... can someone give me the typical route and a link to the right train schedule for that part, I've trying to figure out if it makes sence for those later Saturday night games, and what my trip might look like to see when it makes sense...
Fares: Weekends - $4.75 one way, $9.50 round trip Weekdays - games cost $10.25 if you buy your tickets in advance, or $11 on board the train. Schedules: http://septa.org/schedules/rail/pdf/nwk.pdf
Yeah. Unless something changes, 8pm weekend games are pretty much out- you'd have to wait until after 11 for the train back to 30th. Otherwise it's kind of a pain, but doable- there's >100 people that make it work for most games.
I have to pair up the SEPTA schedule with the rest of the train route back up to either Hartford or New Haven, but I figure the amtrak RT ticket is cheaper than the milage and the hotel room, especially for those 7-8 pm starts on a Saturday.
Just a question as I have never used SEPTA to get to PPL Park - do you still get off at Chester Transportation Center and are there still shuttles to and from the game? Are there any more regional rail stations in Chester?
As far as i know there's still free shuttles from CTC. There's one other station nearby, but you would have to walk. Highland avenue, just a bit south of the stadium. Get off the station, walk along highland to the street of your choice (view map to get a feel) of 2nd, seaport drive, or the tracks.
If you are going to the SOB tailgate, this may be the better option. There are cops everywhere directing traffic, so I don't think safety is an issue.
