Is Omar even thinking about representing Mexico?

I doubt it.... Klinsi' probably has something to do with his 6 month loan.... with that said it would be a slap in teh face to Klinsi' if he switched to Mexico.

 

I think Omar was quoted a couple of months ago, after not getting called up by JK, that the option was still open. I think it was said out of frustration at not getting called up for the US.

 

I feel the same as well, but if Klinsmann was involved in the Nurnberg loan, it bodes better for him chosing US.

 

if he stays in Germany mexico is going to call him up because there defense is horrible

It was never billed as a 6 month loan, only a loan until LA started back in the Champions League .... in other words, a 6 week loan. It was always dumb as bricks for Gonzalez to leave national team camp to pursue such a ridiculously short loan. He would have gotten the same "training" opportunity in the camp, accompanied with game time (presumably). If Klinsmann backed the idea, he was an even bigger fool. Now with the unthinkable happening, it looks even more ridiculous (though it shouldn't because accidents can happen anywhere and the mistake was really about him not staying in the camp and getting his opportunity to see what he could do against his competition and NOT the injury concern). A long term move overseas would have been different (like the rumored John move), but leaving camp for a 6 week opportunity? What a cluster#^$@ that is.

 

Yikes.... if he really skipped NT training/his chance to play for the US under Klinsi' for a 6 week training stint.....

Disagree. Not sure who thought the loan was 6 months. Going to train with a Bundesliga team is waaaay more valuable than playing in a "B" team friendly. The competition and level of play is much higher there. His only opportunity at US camp would be to start. While great that doesn't guarantee he would make the Italy game roster.

If he didn't get injured and played or worked his way into their lineup it would have been far more beneficial than playing in a fake friendly vs Venezuela.

I do not believe Klinnsman had much to do with this. Nuremburg were said to be interested in him back when Bob was the US manager.

In summary this same injury could have happened in US camp, anywhere really and there was nothing wrong with him jumping at this opportunity.

Technically, yes, but it's been reported he doesn't speak Spanish, and it doesn't seem his ties to Mexico are at the same level as some other guys. I don't think he would have said it if Klinsmann had called him in before this camp.

 

Yeah it was a nice way of him saying "come and get me because I'm looking at my other options."

Yup, his rehab will be a lengthy one. It's a pity that he suffered this injury. I was hoping his stint in Germany would prove to be a springboard for him to eventually move abroad and have confidence, but this scenario is the exact opposite.
