The problem I had with SWG and from others that played WoW, is that you're all running around the same planet and space doing the same quests. So when you're going to go fight someone, some idiot doing the same quests(or just in the same area) already killed him. Then you have to wait for them to respawn.

Everyone who signed up for the beta should be invited to this weekend's beta test, which is the biggest and last beta before early access begins Dec 15.

I got to play a little bit on my friend's beta account in the previous weekend beta, and I have to say I enjoyed the leveling process a lot more. As long as you are prepared to respond to, or make a Look for Group request, on the odd group mission, I could see this being the game to ease non MMO players into an MMO. It is a very heavily, story driven game. In previous MMO's I would really just click through quest text and would follow the story based on quest titles or the odd cut scene, but quests in SWTOR are handled through voiced dialogue where your decisions affect the outcome. Each class has their own story, so there is definitely a lot of replayability in playing alts.

Overall it was a very refreshing experience for someone like me, who is a hyper efficient leveler, that blitzes through to max level to pvp and raid.

Second weekend I've gotten to play, and I'm loving this game. I'm not much of a MMO player so I can't compare to others, but from a story perspective the amount of content is staggering. I pretty much played as much as I could for three days and I just finished the second planet, at level 18. I know people can level faster but if you take your time and don't skip through all of the story this game can take a ton of your time.

Anybody playing this right now? I'm having a problem finding a product registration code. I redeemed a pre-payed code, but when I went to add a the code where you have to register the game, it says the code is already used.

I've been playing since I got early access yesterday. Where did you order your game from? If you have early access, then you have the preorder code which is the only code I have at the moment. Origin pre-orders will get their cd key's emailed today, while physical box holders will have to wait until they receive their game to enter their key. There is a 2 day grace period so you have up until the 22nd to apply your code without losing access, and most retailers have already shipped out orders to ensure they arrive by the 20th.

I got on yesterday. My server is lagging bad even though it says population is standard.

I'm too lazy to find out what specs your comp needs to be at to run this. If your computer can play WoW at low settings can it handle this game?

Do you run WoW at low settings because that's all you can have to make that game run well? If so, then no.

Game's been pretty interesting so far. I haven't stuck to a particular class yet. It seems I get bored and move on to another character after I reach about the 20s in level. Right now I'm sticking with a Bounty Hunter.

I am liking the game so far. It is definitly growing on me, and I think it has alot of promise.

What I find irritating is the community. You cant go on the forums or anywhere in game, w/o some sort of wow comparison.

I get that alot of people came over form wow, but its like they want an exact clone, and complain when SWTOR doesnt have those features, or look to provide the instant gratification, they whine.. Its really kind of sad.

I wish they did the bounty hunter and smuggler storylines differently. They should be independent and choose whom they fight for as the story progresses, not attached to the empire or republic.

Has anybody been experiencing lag and loading issues? Especially since last week. It's taking 15 minutes to load the screen when I change planets, plus lag afterwords. I don't know how many times I've been lag-killed when I enter a fight. It's becoming unplayable.

Well I finally got me a new computer - I'd been on the same laptop for 6 years, it could barely handle WoW at low settings at this point.

Now I'm running WoW on Ultra but I'm eager to start SW:ToR, I'm going to do some early game stuff for the next few days and see which characters I like.

Anything you would all label as "don't miss" early on that I might otherwise overlook?

Don't know how things are on WoW because I never played that game. But the best way to level is to do all the side quests, including ones that require groups. Don't waste your credits on the armor and weapon vendors early in the game. Just stick to loot until you get off your first planet and head to the galactic market.

Like I wrote previously. People with top gaming computers are having issues with lag and loading times with SWTOR. It's something on Bioware's end that needs to be addressed. Playing with settings set to low, even though I got a pretty good gaming rig while still experiencing lag, is starting to get annoying. But the first and second planets aren't that bad in terms of lag that I remember.

I'm getting really bad lag. The first two planets and the fleet are fine. But once I got to my third planet and beyond, it's been terrible, especially when I'm in cities and inside buildings.

What are the specs of your PC? Do you have cable internet?

I have a machine that's pretty much at minimum specs, so I'm playing on the lowest settings. I get lag spikes on occasion, but otherwise it plays fine.

With the exception of Taris. They seem to be having problems with that one. Most of the issues seem to be with the later planets, which happens a lot I guess. The early levels are polished to a shine, while the later levels start having the problems. Still a real fun game, but expect more glitches at the later levels.

I agree with YankBastard though. If you do all of the quests that are available you can't help to be over level the farther you go. I'm at the point now where some of my quests don't even give exp, and I haven't done any PVP at all.

    My machine pretty fast.

    -pentium I-7 2.67ghz
    - 6 G RAM
    -1G ATi Radeon 5750

Pretty much can run any game on the market at full settings. It ran SWTOR fine at first, just last 2 days it seems like controls are laggy (dont respond) and I feel like I am mashing keys, and combat is really slow, etc..

Level 50 Jedi Shadow here, Twin Spears (US East-PVP) server.

What a ride to max level - now that I look back on it, I get a better sense of how much of an epic journey it seems as opposed to a lot of other MMO's I've played. Some planets I outright hated (Taris and Hoth come to mind), while most I found enjoyable and some I can't wait to revisit (Belsavis). BioWare being BioWare, the story elements were better than I've ever seen in an MMO, with my only real complaint being how easily I attained the title of Jedi Master.

For anyone on the fence as to what you'll play, I can only say this: the Republic needs you! The faction ratio heavily favors the Empire at the moment, ranging between 2:3 to as much as 1:3 Republic to Empire on most servers. While I have some faith that the population imbalance will eventually self-correct as it did in WOW (everyone went Horde for PVP purposes after vanilla, which eventually caused hardcore PVPers to reroll Alliance as they were sick of long queue times and teammates expecting to be carried), we still need all the people we can get.

Actually, on that note, supposedly a lot of people went Empire because they wanted something a little rougher than the goody-goody Republic. Let's just say that a number of the storylines, romances, and planets will change your mind on that count - while the Empire is openly corrupt, part of the fun of the Republic is uncovering its dirty little secrets (seriously, wait til you see what they're up to on Belsavis).

I can't comment one way or the other as I'm playing from Korea, so when I run into problems I can't tell if it's a game issue or a latency issue.

From my end, it's not latency. I average arounc 50-70, even when I'm lagging bad. I have to play early in the morning when the population is down and use gamebooster. Then I don't have much of a lag problem.

I'm told shadows in the game can be a real killer to fps. Do you have them on?
