Now Beckham doesn't want to go challenge himself in the better leagues of Europe, and he's putting his family/personal life ahead of his career. LD must really be having an impact as a teammate. :)

will be very interesting to see the type of contract that MLS/AEG now agree to with Beckham (or if they agree to a new/continuing contract at all).

wonder if it is at all possible that he would take a salary so low that it would not require a DP slot -- and therefore would free LA up to go and get some other "star" with that DP slot. (that seems highly unlikely, but it may within the realm of MLS roster possibilities.)

Beckham apparently has so many ins for continued success/partnerships with MLS after his playing career, that I'm guessing the "final playing contract" might be a very interesting one indeed. (it would most likely contain some clauses that would allow him to go and represent Great Britain and/or England or whoever else might be able to call him up at some point in 2012...)

Although, I still think it would be unlikely for Beckham (even if just for 9 weeks or so loan) to play for a non-Manchester English club.

    thanks.

having Beckham available to LA in 2012 (even if he misses a good chunk of the summer for Olympic involvement) would almost certainly boost the Galaxy's efforts in the CCL. having the "Beckham brand" attached to their Concacaf effort would likely help get LA qualified to the FIFA Club World Cup in December.

having said that, leave it to TFC to go in and capture the QF match up with LA in March.

and looking to the end of this possible new 2-year playing contract for Beckham in LA/MLS, one does have to wonder if/how he might be involved with any expansion ownership groups possibly as early as 2014.

AP is writing of the potential for a "rolling one-year contract" with LA/MLS that could be signed this week.

    Re: Beckham staying in L.A

I guess a better quality of life in L.A. beats out the big middle eastern bucks in Paris! The life style is good in L.A., and his sons enjoy living in California and it's possible that the L.A. Galaxy is a more bigger/famous club than PSG....

This is what I find strange about the MLS news section. I read "Kick off" and sometimes look at the rumors page but it seems odd that they post so much speculative stuff up there, sometimes as feature stories. It's interesting but it seems somewhat misplaced on the "official" league website.

I wonder whether this is because he doesn't want to jeopardize his immigration status in the US, especially if he wants to live here post his playing career. If he has either a temporary visa or a green card - and he presumably has one or the other - he would be in danger of losing that status if he moved abroad for an extended period.

Doesn't he have an anchor baby here now? Besides, for a guy with that kind of money, he can always get a high net-worth investor exception or something.

When you have as much money as DB immigration is not an issue.
If you are doing business in the US or bring in money over .5M or 1M you are allowed in.

Wow.. So hard to wrap your brains around guy who already has more money and fame than god preferring the warm sunny climate of LA and not up rooting his family over more money and fantastic beautiful city but still winter months too.

David is just being David.. hats off to him for probably making the right choice for his family

    Just so you all know,
LA is suffering from mild temperatures and sunny skies as we speak. What is he thinking. =)

Conceptually people love America. This gives traction to these issues working themselves out over time. We keep winning. The outliers (like Jesus) get grinded out.

Once Becks had his kids here game over - the life is tooooo good. I mean if this dude can't leave... come on now!

(Except the Eurovision Song Contest... keep it bro --- it's like Moonshine in Appalachia - you dont know why they do it, but they do. )

    The following...

    This.

At first, as a Galaxy fan I was happy to lose him when it became clear towards the end of the season that P to the S to the motherf***ing G, yo, was busting a moof ("move") on his ass. But then after my son was born and now that I'm a parent, I'm fine w/ him coming back.

B/c it all revolves around me, guys.

Did you come here to hurt our feelings? :(

To be fair though what would the list look like if we started listing European failures. I'd imagine mankinis would make an appearance on the list eventually.
