Then why the hell would you take a job with a D2 club in America? If MLS is a backwater to many in Europe, then NASL is the tiny bit of muck under the backwater that nobody knows exists. Do you really see Traffic paying a manager any money for their third team? Let's be realistic and stop dreaming of Tottenham youth academy players dancing through Cary, NC. It will be whoever they can afford. Dewan Bader most likely if he doesn't follow Rennie.

I am surprised someone hasn't mentioned Steve Nicol. Again, the money might not be there.

To be fair, Aron Winter has changed some things in Toronto. And Toronto brought in two DPs who actually produced. They could be a good team next year.

They gave Rennie a contract. Could've saved money by having Bader take over then, I'm sure, but then they likely wouldn't have won the regular season. And while I suspect he took the job for a bit of a pay cut relative to 2010, the money can't have been terrible or he'd've accepted Montreal's offer.

Yeah soon as I read the Caps assistants were fired I immediately thought Rennie's Railhawks assts were gone.

Now who? Haslett is apparently available now.

What about David Irving? If you are looking for a veteran coach instead of the young coach looking to prove himself. Unless he is making more money with the Hammerheads.

He seems to find talent. He signed Luke Mulholland who went from USL-Pro, to staring with Minnesota, and will probably be in MLS next year.

One word of caution - the Vancouver article makes a leap of logic by quoting Lenarduzzi as saying Rennie wants to bring his own assistants, then saying Rennie's assts. this year were Ritchie and Bader and, thus, Ritchie and Bader are going to Vancouver. While this may turn out to be the case, it does not necessarily follow. I suspect Ritchie will go, but it's not definite that Bader (or either, for that matter) will. Remember Rennie is a pragmatist, and "his assistants" could well include MLS-caliber/connected coaches that Rennie has a relationship with but were not part of his staff in D2/D3.

Irving was a major part in bringing back the Hammers and is very emotional attached to the team and the city. I would think it would have to be a very lucrative offer to move him from Wilmington.

Which is why the smart money is on one of those two. Plus Curt let slip at one of the supporters function that he was talking to "multiple" former national team players about the job. 1+1=2

What about Pete Fewing. He just won the PDL championship and is moving on. He was successful at the college level as well. I know he is interested.

Saw Martin and Paul at WakeMed last night. Martin looked great in his Whitecaps jacket.

I think its a great choice and the Johnson/Clarke history really helps. I am just surprised the Islanders aren't trying harder to keep him and the PRNT.

With a group of Islander fans wanting him out, I'd like to see what he could do here. Without any assistants, we're going to have to go outside of the Rennie era. Clarke has proven results, stressed stamina to keep up in all competitions, and experience at US D2.

I'd like to hear that there are other candidates for the job.

CC has had success with PR. Not sure if he is the right coach for the personalities on the current team.

Of course, maybe the team willl be very different as we've not seen any news about what players are staying or going somewhere else.

PR management does not want Clarke out. The vast majority of Islanders fans would be greatly dissapointed if he left. They know what he has done for this team...

Intru and his ten friends does not hold the majority opinion here....

LOL clearly you haven't gone to a game recently or even spoken to fans. Clarke is one of the top reason people are unhappy with the current club direction. So he won us some trophies that doesn't make him god, his tenure with the club is drawing to a close we need fresh blood with new ideas to try to save this franchise. If not there will not be any islanders to speak of in a few years.

You guys can have him, sure hi'll win you one or two trophies, maybe a Open Cup. But the honeymoon period on Clarke's ugly boring defensive playing style will end very quickly once every other coach figures out how to counter his new lineup.

Realistically he ain't going nowhere, the FO has a hard on for him and allow him to do whatever he wants. Who would leave that behind? It's probably a bargaining tactic by the Railhawk FO to lower the asking salaries of other coaches or forcing them to make a faster decision.

I have missed two games in the past three years. No, I have not spoken to you or your friends about Clarke-no reason to-the results speak for themselves...

Your refusal to accept a down-turn economy coupled with the fact that the mayor and FO has stopped handing out free tickets as the major reasons for lower attendance is mind blowing and unrealistic..

Yes, the front office does have a hard on, as do other clubs, because he gets results with the players he has...

Tired of this conversation with someone who is blinsided with hatred (your own words) and uses personal reasons for attacks, instead of facts.

I thought he might be in Vancouver. If not, I'd like to see him get a shot at the head job.

Reading over in the Islanders threads and it seems as though Colin Clark is considering his options and is out of contract with the team. Any more rumors about the coaching job for the Railhawks? I'd think they'd want to get a coach in place soon.

I emailed the Indy and Cary News, they both said they have nothing new on the future coach hire. :(

There's a hint about a hoped-for schedule: this posting about ticket sales mentions a "Holiday Party/Coach Meet and Greet."
