One way to get support is to sign on some American girls! SB has signed on five girls and only one is an American! Do you want fans to come see the games? Little girls want to come see girls that they relate to - from their school, played for their club, from their home town! They don't want someone they never heard of. They want some hope that they could be on the team one day - not only if you play in Europe!

What are we going to train these girls to play against the US in the Olympics next year? or in the World Cup in four years? It doesn't make sense. SB and the league needs to wake up! There is so much talent in the US that can't begin to be tapped because of such few positions available and half of them going to foreign players.

It would be a real shame for Women's soccer to die in the US when it should be thriving. Teams are successful, especially women's team, when the team gets along and gels. You can have all the superstars in the world on your team and if the girls can't understand or relate to each other, you will lose.

kk is an american. she plays internationally for canada. but she's american an citizen so step back. i agree that wps needs to have fewer international slots. i'd say 4 slots right now. usa law means greencard player doesn't count against limit. mls learned that.

bythesea & SCF got there first but KK was born in ATL but grew up in BC. She's got dual citizenship. But also, your post did not contradict the post you quoted--that poster said she had dual citizenship & played for Canada.

Is Sky Blue interested in Adriana Martín for 2012?

It might not be the best moment considering the previous posts :D but personally I'd suggest you scout Sonia Bermúdez (FC Barcelona), right now she is just as good as Boquete.

Others have pointed out that LeBlanc was born in Atlanta, but not only that - her career is certainly as relatable to American girls as any other non-NJ native they might sign. She played college soccer in Nebraska, played for Boston in WUSA, and a couple W League teams, including already playing here in New Jersey for the Wildcats several years ago.

Candace Chapman may have been born in Trinidad and plays internationally for Canada, but she too played college ball here in the US, for Notre Dame, and has played professionally in Atlanta, Boston, San Francisco and Rochester. I imagine she will have as much draw here in NJ as any player from elsewhere in the country who is not on the US national team.

SBFC can do both things - have some local ties to the player community, as well as sign some of the top talent available in the world (such as Manon Melis). But they can't just clone a dozen more Heather O'Reillys.

The college draft is coming up in January - it would be great if they manage to pick up Ingrid Wells from Upper Montclair, a midfielder out of Georgetown, and/or Maya Wells from West Orange, a forward out of Penn State - both some of the top players coming out of college.

Besides the Breakers being a impressive club, I also currently live in Cambridge with my husband, Dave. Perfect fit for my life right now!
