Jeez we are already thinking past 2014 and it's not even 2012? It's pretty silly who to pick a team right now because our picks will consist of players we know now that are doing well. Who knows what will happen in 3 years time. Hell dempsey can still be dominating in the EPL.

Still dominating? Clint is a nice player, but career Fulham players are not, by definition, 'dominant.'

it's not ridiculous to think of past 2014...it's only three years away!

Let me put it this way..if you had made a thread in 2007 about what our line-up would look like after 2010, and you looked back at it after seeing our XI in 2010, would you have gotten even half of it right?

Fact is, players catch fire out of nowhere, and we don't have an accurate way of telling who it will be.

Who knows where Lichaj, Mix, Agudelo, etc. will be after 2014. They could be superstars, or totally irrelevant.

Yes, it is all wildly speculative at this point.

Based on USMNT minutes/calls so far, guys like Chandler, Shea, Johnson, Lichaj, Ream, Hamid, Williams, Rogers, and Agudelo would be the favorites.

Still, some of those (Rogers, Ream) haven't played so well. And others (Williams) were played out of position.

Plus, who knows who will catch fire from the youth ranks? Mix is a good guess. Boyd? Brooks? Gatt? Gyau? Bunbury? Maybe Nagbe or Mwanga get their citizenship?

Plus, like DeMerit Goodson, Buddle, or Beckerman, we could have a late bloomer step up.

How can any list of post 2014 players be complete without adding:

Jimenez, Alfonzo, Brenkhussen, Klamis, Smith and Larimoka.

    These guys will rule !

Most threads by far do focus on 2014 and the build up to 2014.

But every cycle we have occasional threads speculating about what happens after the upcoming World Cup. We did this in 2007 and in 2003. In fact, the speculative threads are sometimes fun to look back on, to see how far off target BS posters were.

I don't see what the problem is.
