This thread is dedicated for those footballers out there with Chinese blood. They might not have any eligibility with Team China. The purpose of this thread is to help them gain awareness. As mentioned in a Wild East Football article, there are several oversea players that have Chinese blood such as the followings: Lam Zhi Gin (German-Hong Kong) Calvin Jong-a-Pin (Netherlands) Cerezo Fung-a-Wing (Netherlands-Surinam) Brian Ching (United States) Xavier Chen (Taiwanese-Belgian) Victor Chou (Taiwanese-Spanish) Source: http://wildeastfootball.net/2011/09/foreign-football-players-with-chinese-blood/
LAM ZHI GIN - made his name under the interim Hamburg coach - he has German and Hong Kong citizenship (and believed to be mixed blood) - he was rumoured to be called up for the German National Team - as of October 8th, he played two league games and contributed one assist [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ljn_9bl0fd4"]????????? - YouTube[/ame]
SEAN TSE - as mentioned in an article that teamdragon brought up, sean plays for the elite development team of manchester city. - he is mixed blood, to hong kong father and english mother - sean mentioned on the news that he would like to play for the hong kong national team
ANDREW CHANG -played for USA U-17 and U-15 -involved in youth friendly against Brazil -has a brother who is also a footballer http://www.ussoccer.com/Teams/U-17-MNT/C/Andrew-Chang.aspx http://www.ussoccer.com/Teams/U-15-BNT/C/Andrew-Chang.aspx http://www.ussoccer.com/News/U-17-M...-Brazil-at-Nike-International-Friendlies.aspx http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/component/content/article/83/7690?format=pdf
should be hong kong team by the way, do u think lam zhi-gin can represent china instead of hong kong?
yeah i actually forgot this guy! hahaha the link you used is actually not a pic here i will do the job:
要睇大陸肯唔肯改變比中國人民擁有雙重國籍. fevernova mentioned that fifa accepted china and hong kong are two separate entities. the one thing i dun understand is if fifa will allow hong kong citizens using the "grandparent rules" --- if one of your grandparents or parents are born in china --- they are eligible to represent china. anyway, i dun think lam zhi gin is even interested to play for china if he was given a chance. he is young, speaks only german (and only few phrases of cantonese), and highly rated. i think he will only be interested to play for germany.
MATT LAM - plays for FC Edmonton (second tier American league), currently on loan to JEF United of Japan - father from Hong Kong, mother from Canada - represented Canada U-20 once http://www.canadasoccer.com/players/profile.asp?playerid=215
TAN CHUN LOK - or Mark Lok - born in Hong Kong, formerly of Peterborough United youth - currently training with Northampton Town Football Club (not sure did he sign with the club or not) http://www.uptheposh.com/people/6442/
Jin Jingdao 金敬道 korean-chinese Yanbian FC in China ------------------------- Nick Feely australian-chinese Celtic youth
http://www.goal.com/en/news/14/asia...-youngster-lam-zhi-gin-would-like-to-play-for If the article holds any truth, then I guess HK (and China) can pretty much cross him off the list of potential call-ups. If he is any good, then he'd try to cap for Germany....if he suddenly decides to call HK, then it probably means his career is in the shitter. :/
"Hong Kong made a bigger impression on him for shopping than football." trolololol. i think lam won't even consider playing for hong kong unless he is 28/29 when he knows german team won't call him up pretty much like how xavier chen wanted to play for belgium, but he was never called up, and at the age of 28, he decided to play for chinese taipei/taiwan
I was quite surprised when i saw his (chinese) name on the Man City EPL team list. I'm quite interested in reading more about his eligibility to play for HK/China and was wondering if you had any links handy about him wanting to represent HK because i think he has already played for some of the Irish or English national youth teams?
Alexandre N'Doumbou is a Gabonese/Chinese footballer who plays for Orléans on loan from Marseille http://www.om.net/fr/Equipes/201002/Effectif_pro/1756/A_N_DOUMBOU
youth team appearances do not affect senior team eligibility if sean plays for irish/england youth team, he is still eligible to play for the hong kong youth/senior team. if he plays for the hong kong senior team tho, he is not eligible to play for other teams. one example is Miralem Pjanic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miralem_Pjanić) Pjanic played for the Luxembourg youth, but later plays for Bosnia.
Ah okay, then. So there is a chance he may play for Hong Kong. Would be interesting if he did take up the option to play for HK! Do you think that him playing for HK is a realistic prospect?
i think playing for national team is a bonus for most players. if sean believes that his skill is not good enough for england and irish team, i think playing for hong kong could be a realistic prospect. but we need to give him time, not every player is willing to commit himself right away. citing an example earlier, xavier chen wanted to play for belgium first, but at age 27 (when it seems he couldn't make the cut), he finally made the decision to play for taiwan.
