I'll be starting the Chivas thread on the Barra forum in a day or so. Feel free to post this on there too. We have plenty of Fist city members that make the trek.

We usually post a few days before the game about who's going and who's driving...keep an eye out for a post with a title about the game in the Supporters Abroad forum.

Hi everyone my name is Shane and I'm from England, I support premier league team West Bromwich Albion. Not sure if this is the the correct place and I can't start a new topic on the main page as I'm a new member. Myself and a few friends at work are looking to take on adoptive MLS teams and I'm looking at choosing DC United. I'm just on here to find out more about the team, get to know the fans and then hopefully i can call DC United my 2nd team :)
If this isn't in the correct place if somebody could move it to where it should be or point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Shane

Hi, Shane, and welcome! If you're interested in finding out more about DC United, there is a forum wiki on the main page:

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=478318

Also the team's website is: http://www.dcunited.com/

United is rebuilding this year, and is not among the league's best teams. United is much improved over last year; what an awful team that was! I guess it is good you weren't interested in DC last year! If there were relegation in MLS (there's not), we would have been demoted TWO levels!

BTW, how will a Baggies fan feel about following a team named "United?" ;)

Thanks for the links, any players I should look out for? I think i read somewhere that the young kid from Honduras is meant to be a good player. Supporting the baggies I'm used to seeing relegation so at least I have no worries about that with DC! Ahh it's not too bad being united, as long as its not got the words Wolves, Wanderers and Villa in it should be ok! :D

Andy Najar (Honduras NT) is one to look out for: http://www.dcunited.com/player/andy-najar He may well be in Europe in a couple of years. We also have some other good attacking players in Dwayne DeRosario (Canada NT), Charlie Davies (US NT? - he is gaining form after recovering from nearly fatal injuries), and Chris Pontius (US NT), although Chris Pontius will be out for the rest of the season with a broken leg.

We have an up-and-coming GK, Bill Hamid (US U-23), Defenders, Dejan Yakovic (Canada NT), and Perry Kitchen (US U-20).

The rest are OK or youth projects. This team is still better than last year's, but it wouldn't take much to achieve that!

Yeah Andy Najar he's the one, think it says on Wikipedia he was 1 of the few positives from last season. I also ready about Dwayne De Rosario, i think he's captain? And Charlie Davies seems a good player, not sure if i read somewhere that he's on loan? Must say as well I really like the DC United kit, 1 of the smartest kits in football/soccer (unsure what I should call it on here but i guess I should say soccer lol)

The wiki appears to be dead - perhaps time to unpin this post?

I would like to revive the idea though, to help organize fans "abroad" for watch parties and away matches - maybe a Facebook Group. "United Expats" or somesuch?
