nah. Pointless match played in first gear from United's perspective. Given the quality of this group, qualification was already assured.

City were unlucky to draw, but they seem Arsenal-esque lol. Lots of pretty passing, but sometimes with no end product. Aguero is really looking like the shit though.

He was a fan favorite in Houston, left for more money, but claimed it was to return home to Canada. Then he left Toronto for more money.

 Anderson was not playing yesterday. I was one of his bigger critics the last two years or so, but from the back-end of last season into the first few games of this year he has come on leaps and bounds. Whether that is form or progression, time will only tell. Cleverley has also looked fantastic thus far to start the season. You can never tell with youth players until they start doing it at senior/competitive level, but also keep an eye out for Paul Pogba; lots and lots of potential there.

I don't know as much if an attacking/creative CM is our main issue, especially as Rooney has been brought back into a slightly deeper position the last 8 months or so. I think it is more a defensive CM that we could use, or somebody 'in the middle of things' - Fletcher is good at harrassing, but he's not a world-beater of course, and it will be interesting to see what effect that virus has on him, long term. Carrick, I have never been overly-enamoured with. There is talk of Phil Jones eventually being moved up to midfield due to his influence in games and composure on the ball, as well as Smalling/Evans also being quality young CBs.

Also, I would rather us go for somebody about 23 or younger to develop with the rest of the young players in our team who look ready to supplant the older guys sooner than most expected. Basically, I would rather a Goetze than a Sneijder (in terms of age), but I would rather a Rodwell over a goetze (in terms of their role). For years it has been blatant we need to upgrade in CM, and while our younger players are giving a good deal of hope there, we could still use at least 1-2 big signings there.

I wasn't really commenting on the match just generally. Its like when Arsenal fans have been screaming for a defender for the last few years, its the same for United. They one of the best defenses in the world, possibly the best, and also their forwards and wingers are also one of the best. The midfield on the other hand is not that impressive, yes Ferguson has purcahsed some quality players this summer but I just feel that United to win the CL will need a quality cm that could distribute the ball well. Anderson has improved, but the kid is has no footballing brain, just athleltism. Fletcher is a great player for depth and is definitely not up to the standards of united, and carrick is really a typical overrated English cm.

did anyone else see aguero roll the ball (with the ref's back turned) a good metre, metre half over to improve the angle of kolarov's shot? the shot went in by that distance.
still a good shot, but blatant cheating.

Didn't catch that. I was busy wondering why the keeper failed to move on the ball.

Who was in their lineup? 'arry ranks Europa league less that the Carling cup...I tend to agree. So many clubs in Europa league couldn't survive relegation in England.

If anyone interested Barcelona playing now. At least we can watch a match and not worry about the result. And as I speak the best footballer in the world and no not Nicklas Bendtner, Lionel Messi has just scored the first goal in the 5 min, brilliant goal.

And yes Cesc Fabregasss, as the commentator said, just can't stop scoring, third goal of the campaign and in a row.

God we miss Cesc!!!!! We must move on, but when times are tough, you miss your best players even more..

And Villa makes it three, and that Osasuna defending makes our today look like the Tony Adam days.

And wow what a turn by Cesc to set the ball up for Messi. 5-0.. Granted Osasuna defense today will give Arsenal's a big challenge for the trophy for the comical defending.

Great turn though by Cesc, he really makes Barcelona even more dynamic.
