@conartist This is my favorite crest created so far along with the jerseys. Since San Jose are black and blue and so is the new expansion team Montreal, what if the blue becomes red. Just an idea but again great job on the logo and kits.
Just for fun, I came up with some kit tops that would herald in a hypothetical MLS team for Detroit in 2015. Your choice of orange or navy blue both in white trim or orange with navy blue trim.
http://s1119.photobucket.com/albums/k639/bobcat84/?action=view¤t=DetroitArsenalFC.png This was my first attempt at a logo and i choose to use Detroit Arsenal FC. I had to use paint because i dont have photoshop.
The MLS market on Orange is already covered. But, the league doesnt have a Purple or Gray/Silver team so if ya wanna separate yourself from everyone else, it's that or brown, heck maybe even teal. Have at it. I'd personally recommend a Gray/Silver & Blue combo, colors already found in the Silverdome, (for obvious reasons) and colors that fit the Motor City (Think Blue Oval). Best of all, no one uses this color combo in MLS, allowing you to become uniquely Detroit. Good luck on your MLS quest.
I don't have the supplies to make good kits or crests but i like the idea of Michigan Lakers or Detroit Lakers. Colors would be Red and Black or blue and orange. For the crest i would like to have a lake freighter going underneath either a silloutte of the ambassador bridge or the mackinaw bridge depending on whether its michigan or detroit. If someone has the right program to do this or the time i think it would look cool.
I used paint and this is what i came up with going of my last idea. http://s1119.photobucket.com/albums/k639/bobcat84/
keep the colours...However, you need to add a picture of a car or an engine in the background. This is so vital as a symbol representing Detroit. Something like this. Without it, your logo means nothing for Detroit.
Yeah I'm with you on this. TFC had an away jersey a few years back that was grey. Maybe something similar, but with blue as the secondary.
Those are good ideas and nice sample logos. The MCS logo could use a refresh. Although, you do understand this current logo was created in 08 and has already done it's job to help unify a group and is currently being used on multiple websites. For example: 500+ members on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/motorcitysupporters/
Little request here for Football Manger players..Can someone make the Crest that Conartist did and the Kits into a jpg format that will show up in FM 2012. I have used editor and have Chivas USA becoming the Detroit MLS club and moved Houston to Western Conference. Much appreciated if anyone can do this.
Make the blue lighter and there is your shirt: Unfortunetely, that's the only way I can help. But, you see, I am a Grêmio fan. Hence, for me, sky blue/black/white is the most beautiful color combination there is!
New kid around here (though not new to MLS or Detroit soccer), so I don't know if what I say will be taken very seriously, but I think using any form of blue is a terrible idea. Heres why: Blue black - Montreal Blue red white - NY Blue yellow - LA Blue red - Revs Burgundy light blue - Colorado Blue light blue - KC Dark Blue, Dark red yellow- RSL Blue Red White- Chicago Blue Red White - Dallas Blue White - Vancouver Blue green - Seattle Blue Gold - Philly Blue Black - San Jose Orange is very close to red, which would throw the team squarely in the middle of that lump. I'd prefer a team identity with a bit more distinction, a more recognizeable brand. Here's my proposal: Copper (metal color), Dark Grey, Copper (corroded green color), White. In that order. 1 kit copper shirt, a la FC St Pauli Other kit dark grey, with copper green accents (Spirit of Detroit statue) Third Kit: haven't thought of the perfect one yet. Reasoning behind colors: Both the copper and copper (I hope y'all understand what I'm saying by that) can be used to represent both industrial and nature. Obviously, both of them are metal, which is very industrial. The metal copper is very close to brown, which is an earthy tone. The green, copperish color could also represent leaves and the natural beauty that is in Michigan. Copper mining has been an important industry in Michigan (but in the UP, not down here). Dark grey is another very industrial color, but mostly I just think it looks badass. White, well, it's not really a color, but it would be necessary for some things, for contrast. It's also the color of the state flower of Michigan, the apple blossom. It's a very similar color scheme to the MSU pro combat uniforms worn this year, but not as overwhelmingly dark. And last but not least, we'd be pulling colors from the Spirit of Detroit Statue, which has a strong connection to sports in Detroit. I have yet to see another team in the world use this color combination, there's some unique Detroit flavor. And loaded with symbolism. Wow, that ended up being longer than I intended. But anyways, I'm working on a mock up, I'll show it here whenever, I happen to finish it... EDIT: here, I did this very quickly. Ended up being more black than dark grey, but whatever. Disregard the terrible typography and poor illustration, I'll brush everything up later, and probably change everything quite a bit... I normally wouldn't show rapid prototypes like this, but I think it's a good visualization of the color scheme I said. If people like it, I'll finish it. If people don't... I still will.
Not sure if any of you guys are aware of this, but Detroit is getting an NPSL team called Detroit City FC. You guys will play in the Midwest conference with Cleveland, Chicago, Erie PA, and Binghamton.
Detroit Motor City FC logo should include some sort of car. Preferably something from the old days (I think the 50s?) with the big lights in the front and wing-y things (I know nothing about cars), that's what comes to mind when I think American car. http://i.istockimg.com/file_thumbview_approve/8645626/2/stock-photo-8645626-classic-american-car.jpg http://www.automotiveinfoblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/American-Classic-image.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3015/2695646140_847e4d02b1.jpg
BUMP Just wanted to say I like the white kit as the home (like the Tigers), but also include the black/gray and blue in the design.
