So somehow, despite so many Kansas City forum folks playing this, I just found out about Hattrick a few months ago. Completely obsessed now.
Haha, seriously. Spent way too much time yesterday trying to optimize my youth academy. It one of the most fun aspects of the game for me. FWIW, my team is Vividox FC and I'm in USA.Missouri, VI.60. Does anyone still really play, or is this kind of a thing of the past for most people here?
I never posted in here, didn't even realize Big Soccer had an HT forum... but I still "play" though to be fair, HT is all about the forums for me. I do just enough to keep my team in Div II and III in the USA.
heh, I once had the "worst team in Division 2" But I kept them there for about 2 RL years before the fact that I never saved up a bankroll meant I could no longer cycle through oldie IMs often enough to stay competitive. But yeah, anyone who needs some advice or tips can feel free to bug me, I don't mind.
That's where I'm at, I don't have the bank roll to stay really competitive, the best for me right now would probably be to relegate, sell off high priced players and build bank again
The best situation is to find a level you have maintain at while building a bank... Had defender prices not fallen throught eh floor, I'd be set up just fine right now where I could finish 4th or 5th ad nauseum in Div 3 and churn defenders for money at will. Sadly, since their price is so awful, its not a profitable a plan as it was when I started changing to it 3 seasons ago...
Wow, I can't imagine doing just enough to stay in II and III. I'm trying to gauge how many seasons it's going to take me to break out of VI currently. LOL.
There are the 2 biggest things to always remember about HT: #1 is that it is ALWAYS more a financial/resourse management sim more than a soccer sim. #2 is that you always need to plan 2-3 seasons ahead, or at least be thinking of what you will need 2-3 seasons ahead and get ready to deal with those needs.
I thought this would be an autopromote season out of V...I actually tried to win, but lost every game so far. Did a selloff, heading back to VI, and with 18 mill in the bank right now. I'm going to load up on 17 y/o's and buy up other positions in another couple seasons.
I don't understand the game engine anymore. I have the same level of skill that I had last time I was mid-table in V, and I am getting killed every game. I don't get it. What changed? I have no idea how I am supposed to afford to make it to IV. I really don't.
Well, do I need to have 2 World Class players in each bank (backs, mid, forwards) to be competitive? That's a big jump up in ability. I'm a little tired of the huge gap in talent between VI and V. I'm not sure how I can go undefeated on PIC in VI and go winless in V. This is the most my will has been tested by the game.
I went from 2nd last year screwing around in a tougher version of my league to getting thumped this year with a better team. Oh well, I'm just gonna build up cash until I figure it out.
The gap between Div 6 and Div 5 is the result of a set of long term financial issues, I think. About 4-5 seasons ago, there was a lot of cash around, and prices on trained players plummeted. so anyone with cash was able to buy. But prices have stayed low, so now training players doesn't being in the cash it used to (even though those players train faster), making the old train the same thing for years model less profitable. There's really not my difference between the skill on my div 2-3 club I've have the last few years and the higher end div 4 and 5 teams. Midfield is no longer totally king, it can be circumvented, if you do it right. You need MF +1, either Def, or Attack.. or you need to go the CA route, which it HUGE D, with 1 attack and SEs and SPs. The introduction of the loyalty bonuses will also changes thing slightly, as a newly bought WC player isn't as good (or only just as good) as a magnificent player you've had for seasons.
Getting back in to HT after a few years off. Man things have changed. I've got a weak trainer to start. I don't suppose I can afford an inadequate right at the start. What is the consensus for new teams? I'm thinking get a batch of trainees after selling my best players? I think I'm going to train defenders.
I'm in the same boat Johno. I've been away from Hattrick for close to five years, and haven't touched a manager game since FML went offline. What happened to the license guide that gave new managers $250,000? Have they done away with that? Also, is 3-5-2 the strongest formation still? All of my players are gash and so is my trainer (weak). Someone lead the way...please.
Midfield is still king, and so is the 3-5-2, but the gap is narrower. Not sure what happened to the licensing guide, I'd been coasting with my team the past few seasons and just relegated to V, it's kind of lit a new fire so I'm getting back into it
Thanks Buzz. My experience with 4-4-2 is Formidable atm but I have changed it to a 3-5-2. Apparently I missed my first game, (8-0 Victory versus a Bot) and just discovered my two best players are injured. Oh well. Should I wait a few weeks until I start investing my finances into training, youth, players? Any help is appreciated. My team is: Sexy Movimiento Club de Futbol (224113)
Everything is long term. Don't invest in any player that isn't trainable without a specific goal, e.g. promotion.
