You wanna expand on that? Considering half a dozen people have responded to this I'm not sure the MAJORITY of the Cauldron is anything you should be yapping about but I'm interested in what you have to say period.
I cannot ********ing believe it. Horrible horrible. Not really safety to me (though it is important), but because thats OUR space. Like it was said, they can have the rest of the stadium, but its called MEMBER'S stand for a reason. Its the goddamn principle of the matter. FFS, if only we could just ship them somewhere else in the stadium and just say no extra charge. But that of course would be a profit loss and can't have that... EDIT: Looks like I missed Northbank's comment where he said basically the same thing as my second paragraph. Carry on.
That's potentially an ugly situation, and it will just piss me off anyway, watching several hundred people cheering against us in our own section. The memories of the Santos games are pretty fresh, and this is going to be that situation squared. I think I'll pass.
True, I probably did mis-speak, a majority of the 'vocal' part of the Cauldron. But I stand by my original statement in believing that would be a truly disappointing moment for our club if our own supporter section didn't show up.
I certainly respect that. But just bc we fork over ST $, know the songs, buy the shirts, and refer new accounts to our ticket reps doesnt mean we're lemmings or one of Pavlov's dogs. Besides, this game isnt for the people on this board (much less our players), its for money. I dont support our Club for money's sake.
The one thing I can think of that might salvage the situation is if they somehow put the Chivas fans in M1-M3. I think we could mix inside in the Member's Club and that might work out, but in the stands I can't see it. Problem is, how would they go about that?
Considering I saw multiple fist fights including a brawl at the Chivas v. Club America game a couple of years back at Arrowhead, I find this concerning. Granted that is a huge rivalry but it just shows a potential for behavior. I dont sit in the MS but this still bugs me as that section is meant for our supporter's and should strictly be for our fans. I was on the fence about going and if I went, I would probably sit in the MS. But, this really makes me lean towards not going even heavier than before.
I think a lot of people would do that - the members stand could be the place where other KC fans buy tickets because they know they don't want to be surrounded by away fans.
Yep, this would have been the smart thing to do. Have the two supporter's sections across the field from each other and not sitting together and definitely not having them drinking together in a bar.
We had problems with the US-Mexico game in the Members Club with people that know and like (or at least tolerate) each other. While the friendly means a lot less than the Gold Cup final, it still seems like a bad idea.
Yeah, I was in there before that happened and left right before because I saw it coming. A couple of people from our group got kicked out by security after they tried to help out and mediate the situation. I know there was Hector's group who were cheering for both sides but there was another group of Mexican fans in there cheering for Mexico and they were getting out of hand. They threw beer all over the place including all over my jersey after Mexico scored their last goal. I knew right then that there was going to be problems and started making my way out.
That I entirely agree with -- I really do, I just didn't get where you were coming from. The flip is I want to go relax and have fun at the game -- being a friendly and all -- having the CD guys in our section takes that element away ... Yup, sat on a coach with 30? 40 or more Wizards fans watching a guy on the coach next to us get his ass kicked, hell I even saw women throwing down on some ratty looking dudes in the stadium and 2-3 other fights in the lots after the games ... the first one springs to mind because these dudes traveled to the damned game together ... One CA, One Chivas and they wind up fighting on the same bus they gotta ride home on. Throw a few of our bozos talking shit because they spent all day getting hammered in the parking lot and there is a lot of potential for problems... sad thing is in the rest of the world its the clubs and police saying these things, not the fans. Hell one of our guys wanted to fight traveling FC Dallas fans in lot F the other night because he was wound up and probably a bit too drunk. It was silly and he was quickly restrained and calmed down and the Dallas fans sensibly ignored him, but take 300 of the bastards, stick em in our end where the safety in numbers thing kicks in, and sometimes all it takes is one guy to lose his shit and start something ... Either way, I come from a place where opposing fans are always segregated, I am used to it, and this is outside of my comfort zone. All the same things that have existed in England exist in the Cauldron, lots of booze, lots of young men, a bit of pack mentality. The only thing missing is away fans ... and yo, here they be ... I am inclined to thing the separation is a good thing because sometimes smart people do stupid things ....
I said as much in a post I made on the topic. We've had "away" supporters in the members stand before, it's going to happen. What's bad about this situation is that now instead of having 2-3 or so in the section we're going to have a lot more. The idiots that drink too much in the parking lot are going to be emboldened by that (on both sides) because they'll have a larger number to "back them up" and it'll lead to confrontations.
I just had a conversation with Jake Reed, Director of Ticketing, and all tickets for Chivas fans that were issued in the Members Stand have been canceled and reissued in the away supporters section. There was a mistake but it has been taken care of. On game day security will direct any Chivas fans that come to the section to the other area. Now we need to show up and support our boys. I will have ticket information up soon. Thanks.
Thank you Sean for the info. Much appreciated. I know Ive already been real negative on this whole game, but to me a "mistake" is leaving you wallet at home, or forgetting the laundry. Not this.
Theres such a thing as making a huge mistake... Errors happen. Perhaps it wasn't, perhaps it was, but theres a lot of parties involved here that could've caused this to happen. Lets just give them the benefit of doubt because its been fixed and move on. And beat Chivas.
http://www.sportingkc.com/news/2011/10/cd-guadalajara-unveils-roster-skc-friendly Chivas roster came out the other day.
We've been able to get a few more 2 for $20 tickets for the Chivas game in the Members Club. Want to make sure we have as many Cauldron regulars as possible
