Meh, I whined a lot about the Newcastle game and it turned out just fine. It's an exhibition game at home, the guys who need rest will see 45-60 minutes tops, and we'll pack the stadium and make some money. I don't see this hurting us in the grande scheme of things.
AS long as Bravo doesn't do the "play for us one half, play for his former team one half" thing, I'll be fine. If he does, I may throw up.
I thought it was interesting that in the post-game quotes, both Kei and Jimmy said they like to play games close together. I can see both sides, and I'm sure the coach and training staff prefer the rest, but really, I thought we did it right at the Newcastle game and I see no reason why this couldn't be a practice extension and minuets for most of the bench guys. Of course that goes both ways as injuries can happen any where, but I think getting some midweek pseduocompetetive minutes without having to travel won't be a detriment. And I do really enjoy these exhibitions.
Yes, because players can't get hurt in practice... or walking down the street... It's a friendly. The teams will play at half speed, no hard challenges, the stars will leave at halftime, the kids get time playing in front of a crowd, the team makes money, the fans get to see a different team play...The only downside would be potential injuries, and that risk is always there anytime you kick a ball.
Tell that to the guy that left early during the Newcastle game... And I'm still worried Bravo will play most if not all this game because of who it's against.
Ben Arfa is who you are thinking off and will likely miss the first six weeks of the English season.....
Not that likely, given how Mexican soccer players think they are a level better than the average American player.
Which, what I am saying, or what Mexican players are thinking? If it is me... I am saying that, it is unlikely that Chivas will take it easy, because they really don't want to lose to a MLS team. BTW, I think this game will be an outrageous fun time for all fans, the 80% Chivas fans and the 20% SKC fans, both. And I am surprised at the lukewarm reception it is getting here. I predict the stadium will be packed and noisy and crazy.
And that's fine, but I don't come to games for the 'event' I go to watch the team try to win trophies
I want to support the team, but dont want to support decisions such as this. For starters, its bogus to think that playing a Chivas friendly will somehow ambassador a greater spanish speaking market share. Thats a pipe dream. Fill the stadium, it still doesnt matter. Also, I dont understand the rationale "players get injured during pratice as well." Its proven science. More fixtures = more fatigue = more injuries. We all know the most expensive clubs in the world scrutinize player age, matches, minutes, recovery time and rehabilitation time. I guess our players really are fungible. An injury here could end the season for one of our contributors. Euro clubs at least do it under the guise of training in advance of regular season. We cant even claim that.
Just found out that the team has sold hundreds of group sales tickets to Chivas Guadalajara fans to the Members Stand for this game... Needless to say I was pretty surprised when I heard this. It's a friendly, yes, but it also seems like a recipe for disaster. Newcastle fans had their own section. We had a few sprinkled in the Members Stand, but that's far different than organized groups of away fans.
Some of our hotheads and some of their hotheads clash and that might just get ugly .... we know we have em.
October 12th, Livestrong Sporting Park, Sporting KC vs Chivas. Prepare for the Village West Side Story.....
It was Hector who told me otherwise we'd still have no clue. He was really concerned about it and he's planning on being in KC gear as always cheering. Now granted, they probably haven't sold many at all to Cauldron people, but we haven't pushed group tickets yet, and if you're like me, you're waiting for money to come in w/the USWNT game as well coming out of pocket. This many home games in a row is really hard on the short term cash flow. I spend all my money going to games currently. We all know it's going to be 80-20 Chivas fans there but I'm guessing we still will have a few hundred in the Cauldron come game day.
I literally don't want to go to this now .... I was indifferent to the game before but now? I don't want to be an away fan at LSP where we can't even stretch out and be ourselves in the Members Section without wondering where the next battery is coming from. This is meant to be our place ..... I don't care if the Chivas fans get the remainder of the stadium they should not be selling groups into the Cauldron.
We'll figure something out as best we can. I will be there and I hope others join me when we get group sales going. The idea of our team playing a game at home with no Cauldron is worse to me.
I'll be there. Maybe they can segregate the supporters groups witn a row of security running down the aisle.
Couldn't agree more. I'll be there. The way the majority of the Cauldron is handling this situation is much more concerning to me.
