    That's happened to me, too.

Let's just roll with it and say that we're really excited about the kid.

I get it after watching the video. When a ball isn't even going in, and the goalie turns it in, that's an OG.

From what I have heard the initial shot must be on target for it not to be counted as an own goal if the goalie flubs it.

It's pretty clear in the video he was trying to cross the ball(not on target) and the goalie put it in.

By the Belletti standard, it should count as Gatt's goal.

In this case, I think that rule is too punative. I think a play like that should get a goal.

I love Josh as a player, but there's no way that's a goal unless he called the bank off the keeper-- he had no angle at all and the ball was not on frame. Good run, excellent control under pressure in the box. The pass to his teammates was a little close to the keeper, but that turned out to be what he needed.

Own goal or goal, I could careless. The kid's doing something few Americans have at his age. I just sit back and marvel at it. Josh is progressing in that text book, fairy tale way that we wish all youngsters could. I'm along for the ride. It's been a pleasure to watch and I truly don't think we have even scratched the surface with this kid. I've held off as long as I could so I didn't place too many/unreal expectations on him. But damn, he keeps making me eat crow!! He rises to the challenge. Kudos to him; that's the mark of a talented player.

That was a goal the goalie lost control of the ball this is almost similar to the goal Clint Dempsey made against England in the World Cup.

The difference was Dempsey was on target, Gatt wasn't.

Another difference was Gatt's had major pace, Clint's didn't.

Tons of pace. Very direct skills. He is lighting in a bottle this Gatt. Of all the players we have in our system that could move to a Manchester United its him. He looked very good on the wing and interchanged quite well. Ole Gunnar plays a very similar style to Ferguson in the final third. Granted his prog could take years and may never happen. But he is something to truly get excited over, hes got to stay healthy.

It was not a goal, on the other hand Gatt is most definitely a dude that "makes sh!t happen", can you imagine he and Chandler marauding along the right together?

OK, this stuff's really important as it earns Gatt immortality on the YA Goal Scorers' list. I'll have to trudge through the Molde web page to see what it says.

I don't read Norwegian, but the club website appears to be giving him credit in the write-up:

"Et fullsatt Color Line stadion var kledd til fest i kveld, og det var Molde som kom best i gang da Joshua Gatt scoret 0-1 målet allerede etter 50 sekunder."

And the team website has three goals (including one for this game) on his stats page: http://www.moldefk.no/site/statisti...d=20159&season=2011&match_type=&player_id=156

So, I'm eating my words from my previous post. Gatt gets the goal.

Molde's team website is crediting him with a "MÅL" for that match. I'll take their word for it.

The way he shuffled his feet and created space on that 2nd defender was definitely top level stuff.....just needs to work on other things...

Gatt came on in the 66th minute as Molde drew 2-2 with Tromso. Molde still first in the league.

    In yesterdays game, yes.
I believe that he will start next match again, because the players he competes with played terrible yesterday.
