Honestly, I'd like to see Eric go back to Leeds. He is actually appreciated there, whereas Villa fans seem to think he only has a future as a backup or don't rate him at all. Kind of sad that a team on the brink of total collapse is turning their nose up at a young player that has shown boatloads of potential (albeit at a lower level).

Give him time. This is one of the most competitive leagues in the world. If we are to ascend to the next level then he has to prove himself at the highest level. Going down to the championship shouldn't be priority until January if anything.

Lichaj did not make the 18 today for AV.

Well since Lichaj is a RB I don't see him making the line-up with everyone healthy. Coaches tend to have a back up CB on the bench instead of RB.

Today Luke Young had to come off the field due to injury so Lichaj could be looking a start next weekend.

And Givens was laboring pretty bad during the game. Even had Collins taking the goal kicks again. So Guzan may be getting the nod next week along with Lichaj.

What I trying to say is..If Villa loses next match, there probably wont be a fan thats not pointing the finger at them. Obviously:cool:

Villa plays a cup match tuesday against Hereford so I expect to see Lichaj start. Same with Guzan considering Given's injury.

Not likely, barring a couple of injuries.

The two fullbacks Young and Warnock have been very good this season. Lichaj probably is the #3 fullback at the club so once an injury happens or one of those two have drop in form, then Lichaj will be given a shot. Young actually had to be subbed off last game, but I don't know how severe of an injury he currently has.

Lichaj should probably leave if that's the case.

That's not at all clear. Ciaran Clark has made the bench ahead of Eric in both league matches and he played LB last week after Luke Young went off with a minor injury (with Stephen Warnock moving from LB to RB).

I'm still holding out hope that Leeds will sign him for the year before the transfer window closes.

Leeds could really use him as Simon Grayson is playing kids/CBs out of position at fullback. They're doing fairly well so far but one injury and we're really hurting and the starting LB Aidy White went off today with an injury. If Grayson has to move Darren O'Dea from CB to LB and Andy O'Brien (who looked completely awful the first 2 games, slightly better apparently today) back in at CB, the outlook worsens drastically.

No because with Young's injury history and Warnock being a very streaky player, Villa needs a fullback that can play that position very well just in case. Lichaj will get time with Villa this season trust me.

It is pretty clear. Lichaj doesn't make the bench because he is a fullback. Lichaj can only play the fullback position and as a coach, you want a versatile defender on your bench just in case something happens. Clark can play LB, CB, or CDM so that is why he is the defender that makes the bench. McLeish only wants one defender on the bench and that is why Lichaj is not the guy he chooses.

No, it's not clear. Clark certainly provides versatility in that he can play centrally, both in defense and in midfield, but McLeish wouldn't be the first Villa manager to prefer Clark over Eric at LB. We shall see.

Well that is because I don't know if McLeish sees Lichaj as LB as well or just a RB. If McLeish is hesitant to play Lichaj at LB, that would give him even a lesser chance of making the bench.

He might have to ride the bench for a while and wait for an injury or 2, but it´s good to know Eric is in their long-term plans
