Interesting one here. A 1992 in the ranks of the Belgian first tier team. Has an American mother. add to the ever growing list of Egyptian-Americans youth players.
I can't wait to hear how Bob Bradley, of all people, has to convince him to choose Egypt over the US.
On the other hand, Bob could also see that Klinsmann can call Gatt into the mix so he might make his move.
Hey , this is Sherif Fayed. I actually just randomly typed my name into google to see what pops up and this popped up, so i wanted to thank you guys for noticing me. I don't get much exposure in the US because i didn't start off there.
That's because they didn't know about you till this thread started. They weren't ignoring you, they were just unaware of you. Thanks for joining BigSoccer and best of luck in your future, regardless of whether or not you play for the US. Do you mind sharing with us some of your backstory. Your English is quite good, have you ever lived in the US? And did you grow up in Egypt or in Europe? How long have you been at Lierse and what positions on the field do you think are your strongest?
Looks like a one-year contract that would end midseason: http://www.lierse.com/en/news/fayed-sherif-joins-lierse Some of you fellow YA dorks may remember another Egyptian-American who played for a while at Lierse...
SWITCH TO TEH US YOU TRAITEERRRR!!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!111!!!:!! No, seriously, congrats on the Egypt call-up.
I manage Lierse in Football Manager and they have a partnership with an Egyptian club. I haven't played that game for a month; I think I'll open it up tonight to see if I have Fayed in my team.
Yeah sure no problem. I grew up in Egypt as you know my Mom's American and my Dad's Egyptian. I never lived in the US, but i've always been visiting family there. I played in Egypt for the club Wadi Degla who's owner is also the owner of Lierse. My dream has always been to pursue my professional career in Europe at a young age, so when i turned 18 i was sent there by my Egyptian club on trial and it was successful. I signed a short term contract for a year and half starting from January 2011 and ends July 2012 and from there i'll hopefully be moving somewhere better for me. I play up in the attacking front , but for my best qualities i usually play right/left wing or midfield. Oh and btw for you to know the call up for the Egyptian National Team was for the youth not the First squad. Maybe one day i'll get a call up from the US and it would be an honor.
First off, Congradulations on the Contract. Wish you the best of luck. Feel free to continue to keep us posted on whats going on. Keep plugging away so hopefully one day, we'll get the honor of watching you in the red, white, and blue.
It'll be great if you get to meet Bob Bradley, and then Jurgen Klinsmann, and then you can come to bigsoccer and tell us aaaallll about it. But I wonder if anyone on bigsoccer would be interested in such a thing? (FYI, Sherif, we love inside stuff here. So let us know how things are going. And I'm being ironic...Bob vs. Jurgen has been on of the biggest topics on this site for the last 5 years.)
You've never played for me. But I'll have to give you a run-out real soon. FYI, I'm playing the 2010-2011 version of the game. This is sort of surreal. I mean, it's one thing when there's a thread on a guy and the guy comes here and posts. That's kinda weird, but it has happened a few times before. But for me, it's just really funny that he plays for the team I'm managing in this silly little computer game.
Yeah, he got on as a sub for me, but didn't do much. You were asking about my Football Manager game, right?
At some point, it appears Ahmed returned to his original club, Wadi Degla in Egypt, where Transfermarkt still has him: http://www.transfermarkt.com/en/sherif-fayed/leistungsdaten/spieler_170063.html I did not see him on the club website, though. https://twitter.com/Sheriffayed https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sherif-Fayed/28261354726
He now has a verified Facebook account with over 200K likes as an actor/director: https://www.facebook.com/alsheriffayed
