i quite like him as well, but he still has to show he can do something with it on a more regular basis. my guess is he will ultimately end up as a decent mid table type of player, kind of like seb larsson

they're talking about zarate, but your opinion on dann is about the same as mine: not first pick but no dud.

    Oh okay. Got it.
As for Zarate though, if he's really 20m and Lazio won't budge, I don't want him at Arsenal. They're daft if they think Wenger will pay that much. I say 10m and that's it. He's a good player but Lazio already bought Cisse and Klose so I'm sure they need the money. Give them 10m and if it doesn't work, walk away.

Well, it's a little hard to do that right now at Citeh seeing as they've spend about a billion in players. No? I think a guy like Wenger can mold him into a better player and he can really kick off his career. He's got potential but you're right, he might end up just being mid table.

His family name is Miyaichi. In Japanese, his name is "宮市 亮," which reads "Miyaichi Ryo."

yeah,..., weird, isn't it. the problem with these miracle finds, is that there are so many of them that the Boss applies the same strategy for every position. so even though the Boss is far more often right than wrong, the wrongs turn out to be spectacular sometimes -- like denilson, and so far vela.

the boss is a genius. but the problem with geniuses is that they rarely understand the limits of their genius.

I'd take Wayne Bridge and Craig Bellamy off their hands. Bellamy is direct and puts the ball in the net and we do need some LB help, which Bridge would bring.

Hmmm, so all those healthy LBs we've got are better, right?

If you look it up, Ryo seems to be a fairly common Japanese first name. Miyaichi just even sounds more like a last name too. Not to mention is it's really rare for western publications to use the last name first convention when talking about Asians.

I'm not sure how much longer the fan base will continue to buy tickets at these prices if the team starts dropping out of the CL spots

The fans will still buy tickets. The guys in the corporate boxes may not.

Agreed... 25 goals in 103 appearances for Lazio isn't exactly mind-blowing. I'd like to see someone who has put up numbers like a Falcao.

I have no special knowledge, but the Guardian says it has something to do with agents' fees, though it says so only in the link from the main football page to the article, and nowhere in the article itself. Ahh, journalism.

Falcao signed for 40m for Atletico. We will never sign anyone for that much money while Wenger is boss.

Now that Traore is on loan I wonder if Vermaelen will be moved at LB at a permanent basis. Especially if the Jagielka rumors are true and he actually signed today.
It seems impossible that Wenger would sign a LB among other signings that seem imminent.

    So would it be?
    Sagna - Koscielny - Jagielka - Vermaelen

Traore is not going on loan. This is an unsubstantiated rumor. Actually, according to the Guardian, he groin injury is not as bad as feared. He (or Keiran Gibbs) may feature Saturday vs Liverpool.

" In defence, Kieran Gibbs could yet feature despite limping off with hamstring trouble against Udinese and Armand Traoré is also not as badly injured as was feared, when he went off for the reserves with groin trouble."

Not fluent at all, but I've had to deal with it for work on a regular basis, so I've picked some of it up here and there. Enough to recognize the "Ryo" in "宮市 亮," anyway.

Here's more confirmation, though. When writing Asian names in western style, it's customary to write the surname in all caps to avoid any confusion as to which is which. The Japanese Google page for Ryo lists his name in English as "MIYAICHI Ryo."

Plus, as AfricnHrbMan points out, "Ryo" is a common Japanese first name.
