Now in goal for the Revs... the love child of Peter Schmeichel and Hope Solo.

    Holy smokes, Matt Reis.

what is it with Barnes and these "chip passes"? He has tried them all night and has not connected once.

Reis just couldn't get a handle on that ball off the CK in the 90th. :(

Without Matt this could've been Houston winning 4-1.

If so, then Moffat had damn well better be sent off, too.

    Costs 2.

Frustrating since without him, we would've lost 3 or 4 to 1.

FWIW, MLSnet.com match report doesn't indicate any red cards for either team.

Also, this incident illustrates why I loathe the rule in soccer that permits for legalized obstruction of the sort that Phelan did. It invites shoving matches and dangerous play every single time.

This. We were lucky to get out of that game with 1 point.

    I agree..
This rule should also apply to forwards. Unless you HAD clear possession of ball, ie, a single touch, You CANNOT shield ball...!!

Because it's almost an obstruction when you move around to shield a rolling ball..unless, like I said..You have possession..! Needs to be a clearer rule...It just LOOKS wrong. imo

    btw.
horrible game all around. How'd that hunkering in work for you Nicol..??

We had 3 shots on net and 39% of possession. We completed 280 passes to Houston's 426. Also, had 3 corner kicks to Houston's 12.

We were dominated. I don't know how we didn't lose tonight. Oh wait, yes I do. Reis was a BEAST. I have nothing else to say. This team is just pathetic.

A few years ago, when the Revs were actually a good team that could possess the ball, they would dribble into the corner to waste time at the end of a game if they had the lead. Although I understood the strategy, I hated that strategy then because I always felt it wasted opportunities against a defense that was taking chances and giving up odd man breaks (and I dislike that approach).

Now we have a team that can barely complete a few passes without losing possession and we have a lead late in a game, but we do not even consider dribbling to the corner? Why not? Has anybody else noticed or wondered about this change in tactics?

I think it can be attributed to inexperience. I noticed Boggs in particular decided to turn and dribble when he was in the perfect position to just hold it.

I thought it might be inexperience too and just not knowing how to finish off a game.

I kinda blame this result on SN's subbing in the final 10 minutes. I think we could have closed it out if he had not messed with the lineup. Seems like things got worse after he started changing things.
