I agree somewhat. However, everyone and their grandmother knew he was going back, he never made any bones about it, it's his home, as wretched and criminal of a club as it is (Public Enemy #1 all across the world), it is his hometown club. He's even taking a pay cut to go there.

Ok, we got shortchanged 10-15 million. But we knew there was a market of one for his services. And so did everyone else.

What he should have done was to tell the Barfa pricks to STFU during the past two years, in private. But he didn't. I do fault him for that.

Cesc has spent all of 1 days with his new team and has equaled the number of trophies that he won in 8 years at Arsenal.

    Can hardly blame the guy.

actually, if you are going to count their equivalent of the charity shield then he still has to win another to equal what he won at arsenal.

Me neither. I just turned on the game because someone mentioned it, and it was available online on ESPN3--which, by the way, is also broadcasting our next game against Liverpool.

Cable and dish free living is great when you have a nice DSL connection. :)

I don't know necessarily about hamstrings but it seems Arsenal have been very injury prone not just since Colin's tenure but going all the way back to Gary's.

gary was in charge since the mid-80s and i don't remember this many regular injuries before say 2005-6. adams and his dodgy hamstring were gary's big continuing problem.

you mean like at United? (ignores that both Vidic and Rio went out on Sunday to muscle injuries)

or Jay Emmanual Thomas (who has been good for Ipswich apparently), or Song, Vermaelen, Sagna

I don't think you are reading what he wrote correctly. Just because a few players may take it on themselves to weight lift doesn't disprove his point. I have no idea what's right but I think it's a worthy theory. Has anyone done a statistical analysis of whether Arsenal players get injured more often?

their was an article a couple of years ago about Fergie being mad that United players were missing a lot of games in the premiership due to injuries. I cant find it now, but it was in a press conference.

I honestly think its everyone in the premiership, we just noticed Arsenal more and do not pay attention to others.

I don't have time to watch clubs outside of Arsenal and wouldn't be surprised at all if it's just an observation error we make.

Just got done watching leg II of Barca - Madrid and just no wonder that Cesc wants to play for Barcelona. Madrid plays better than last year by an order of magnitude, and still lose 5-4 on aggregate to Barca. While I don't think that Cesc is going to take Iniesta's spot, but Andres and Xavi have logged lots of miles on them and there will be lots of soccer to play whilst either one gets a break. Y'know, Cesc gave it a good try at Arsenal, to leave after 8 years and have the opportunity to play with Barca, I don't think that's front-running at all.

Exactly. I remember interviews with Cesc back in his first or maybe second season with Arsenal and even back then he made it clear that he would return to Barca. I and many others thought it was always going to be a few years with us then he would return. Arsenal were never going to get full value for his return transfer but then again Barca didn't get anywhere close to what he was worth when he left them. I'm surprised that he stayed here as long as he did. I put that down to the fact that Barca simply didn't have any need for him. I have no problem with Cesc and wish him well. However Barcelona's behavior over the last couple of years in their pursuit of Cesc was simply obnoxious and tainted the club in my eyes (just as their play acting on the pitch and UEFA's bias for them did) but I don't think there was much Cesc could have done to change that.

Cesc wouldn't want to anger the one club he wanted to go to and Barca simply held all the cards. They played a very effective if disgusting campaign to reduce the price they'd pay. I think UEFA/FIFA should punish clubs that use these techniques but we all know that the corrupt officials there would never act against Barca or Real Madrid no matter how obvious their offense. I hope Arsenal remembers this poor treatment in any future dealings with Barca. If I was running the club, I'd make it clear that Barca would have to pay at least 25% more than other clubs in any future transfers. I'd laugh if any buyout clauses in future contracts at Arsenal had that language.

My best Cesc moment was when he threw pizza at Ferguson after the game at Old Toilet.

One game last year, at least that I know of, Chelsea were without Terry, Lampard, Essien and Drogba. You know, just the spine of the team.

Can we get Cesc back on loan while La Liga is on strike?
