Also, we have the least number of assists (17), least number of shots on goal (84), second to last (ahead of DC) in total shots (264), and second to last in attendance (ahead of the Crew).

2011: A banner year for the Revs.

Not a formula for winning games is it lol

I wish they'd start training Phalen to play central defense. He might be good at that and with Joesph and Benny ... his halfback minutes are going to evaporate. I want to see Benny at AM, Joseph at DM with Phalen as maybe a stopper type

My contempt for this club is driving me towards rooting for the Jets out of spite.

the few times Phelan played CD he was a disaster. You don't want him marking anyone within 20 yards of the goal

Over the season, I've come away with the impression that this is a team that can't do two things at once.
Either they play solid defense and lose 1-0, or they try to attack and lose 3-2.

Any season we're ahead of DC can't be considered a total loss! :)

All of this in a year where the team, compared to 2010, theoretically has better central defenders (Soares/Coria/Barnes > Osei/Gibbs/Barnes), better strikers (Lekic/Caraglio > Dube/Schilawski/Stolica) and a better central midfield (Joseph/Feilhaber > Joseph/Phelan).

Possibly a major difference is 2010 they actually did have an attacking threat who could create his own shot once in a while. I think he won the team MVP award. What happened to him again?

Or just MLS as a whole is improving much faster than the Revs are improving.

I hate American football but I may take it up just to root against Kraft and company.

How does San Jose have more than the Revs and the Crew? Isn't their stadium capacity something like 9000? I know both teams are regarded as two of the worst in terms of fanbases, but I'm having a hard time believing we draw less fans than SJ with stuff like Beckham games and soccer gamp free ticket days.

They played a game at Stanford in front of 41,028. That likely pushed their average up significantly.

Right, I actually remember that. Even our Beckham games don't draw as many fans as other teams.

Their fixture against LA only drew around 10,000. Their game at Stanford was against New York.

Interesting. I honestly can't think of a reason why it was so much more. Henry can't be that much of an attraction that he's blowing Beckham away now?

LA/SJ was always the big rivalry series for SJ too.

That was one of the games of the year though. LA wound up playing Magee in net and SJ still couldn't score on him! :D

    Q: Is Caraglio Another Bust?
A: Not yet but give it time, Revs fans. If he wasn't then he'd have stayed in Argentina.
(Note: I hope my cynicism is unfounded and I am dead wrong when he lights up MLS.)

This will be his third game with us. If I don't see something tonight I think I'll make a decision

So close to neg rep for this comment. :)

Some nice stuff from Milton tonight. He held the ball well and made some nice moves and passes. Not a lot of speed, but speed alone is over-rated (hello, Shirley Sawatzky).

He was visibly gassed around the hour mark, when Schilawski came in for Tierney. He had spent so much time in our half aiding the defense that he had nothing left going forward. I don't know why Nicol kept him in so long.

I agree. He also looked better with a strike partner up top, and the Stache goal was basically all him up until the tap in. I thought the fact he powered through Tally Hall, who has to be at least 6'4 and solidly built, was pretty impressive.

Feldman or Heaps, in the broadcast, actually said that Caraglio looked upset that he was being taken off.

Maybe he was upset that he signed with such a god awful team, and it was going to regress his career.

Slow, out of shape, I swear to god he does more walking on the field than every other player put together, ugh. When they cut to him a few times and he was drenched with sweat visible gasping for air after ~35 minutes I literally asked out loud
"How the hell could he be tired! He hasnt even ran enough to make it from my front door to my mailbox to check the mail!"

What do you mean bust, I vote Caraglio for MVP.... He embodies everything our scouting department stands for!
