Zak started and went 53 minutes for Norwich's 3-0 win over Coventry he was the first player subbed out
Whitbread started Norwich's last preseason friendly against Parma, which Norwich won 3-0. Whitbread went 50 minutes. http://www.canaries.co.uk/page/NewsDetails/0,,10355~2412080,00.html Looks like Zak has a chance to start the season opener.
Great emergency defender. Tactically he is improving leaps and bounds but will be exploited against the David Silva's and Nasri's of the league.
But does he make up with some of that lack of athleticism with positioning? How is he at linking with the midfield?
A slow defender is not an issue if he reads the game well. As long as Whitbread positions his body correctly, it really shouldn't be an issue that he can't keep up with the strikers.
Go back and read this thread from page 1, by far the biggest issue with Zak is that he can't stay healthy, .
Scientists really need to look into whether human beings actually can be made of glass. They should start by examining Zak Whitbread and Arjen Robben.
a slow central defender is less of an issue if he reads the game well. and zak does read the game well. but a slow central defender is always an issue even if the opposing side has a fast change-directions-quickly forward.
How long will Whitbread be out? I'm just concerned that he'll lose his spot in the CB lineup/rotation.
Awful (at least, on goals). http://rutube.ru/tracks/4748300.html?v=e89ba34ba7de0123396fe8f251e86953&autoStart=true&bmstart=1000
I'll call this a blessing in disguise. If they have any hope of staving off relegation they need to get some early wins and a draw here or there against the top 5.
Ayala, the recent CB signing injured his knee yesterday. The team is not sure yet how long he will be out. Quote from the manager: "On the positive side Zak came through hopefully okay. We gave him a bit of game time and Morro (Steve Morison) hopefully the same, and they don't have any reaction."
I believe I read Paul Lambert made 11 changes from the Stoke game for the Carling Cup. I wouldn't read too much into this performance.
yeah. he is a good player. i think some people here don't realize how difficult it is first to play at this level but more importantly to keep upgrading teams. that means he has impressed in his league play other managers. really well done.
In fact, after QPR was knocked out of the Carling Cup yesterday..........Steve Warnock said he was pleased with the result. Lambert probably wouldn't be so vocal about it, but he probably feels the same way. The Carling Cup is nowhere near as important to Norwich as premier league survival.
